Quiet thoughts

To everyone who comes to visit this site, I wish all the best to each and every one of you.

I'm having an extremely quiet morning here at the house, and am enjoying a mimosa for breakfast.

Later on, we may go out for a walk but bay-bee, it's cold out there!

This is a little volunteer impatiens that I found blooming in the aloe pot I keep in the kitchen window. Click to enlarge. It's a cheery little sight as the sun comes in the east side of the house.

  1. Hard to believe that anything this beautiful can survive the cold extremes. Kinda makes you think of mankind, surviving obstacles in spite of the odds.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous photo Kate! Thank you for the well wishes. I wish you all the best as well and keep you in my thoughts and prayers. While your situation is not easy, you amaze me with your strength. Your blog is truly a bright spot in my day.

    All the best,

  4. Love that little impatiens - cheers me up no end of this very cold day. The hoar frost is just beginning to melt as the sun goes down.

  5. Sounds like a good way to start the New Year!

  6. Hey, thanks all. I've been invited to Adrienne's for a wonderful lunch and then on to visit Karen, her mom and my best friend. They live about 5 miles away from each other in NJ. But my husband doesn't want to go. He's given me every excuse in the world, including the fact that he just Doesn't Want To.
My God, he reminds me so much of my father.
It would be so much better if our fireplace was usable. It would cheer us both no end. But the sweeps deemed it not safe, so we're not using it. And the candles I have set up in there . . . they're not doing a damn thing to cheer me up today.
I will not leave him alone on New Year's Day.
    Tomorrow's another day, however.

  10. Yummm...I would love a mimosa! Doughboy is fast asleep in bed. He awoke fine but started to come down with something. I am ready to go somewhere...do something. Instead, I am cleaning my hobby room in preparation for Scrap Club this Sunday and celebration of a birthday of one of our dear friend. Okay...I just talked myself into braving the elements for a walk to the pool house. I believe I have a stash of mini champagne bottles in the frig. I know we have orange juice. Me thinks a mimosa is just the ticket I need! Care to join me, Kate? Together we can get into some kind of mischief ;)

  16. ..."Happy New Year!" Kate & hubby & family! And all you CGPeeps out there too! :o)

...I truly hope for you a year filled with love, laughter, prosperity and good health!

...Btw, may I say that your new blog header is like totally steller! (all I needed was the word "dude" in that last sentence to show how big of a goob I truly am... lol :o)

    ...Many blessings to all... :o)

  17. ...I just read your comment up there and it just confirms how sweet of a person you are! And it is ironic how little girls grow up to marry someone that is similar to their father. The many traits of my father that I tried to avoid are the very traits that are most prevalent in my husband...(sigh)

...Keep your chin up Katie-girl and try to have a good day! Like you said, tomorrow is another day... And I don't know about you but I'm all for packin' up and headin' for MPM's place for some Hoppin' John! I think she's got the right idea... ;o)

    ...Many blessings... :o)
