C’mon, let’s go for a small walk

I took these photos Easter morning after I helped watched my husband work in the garden. As you can see, it was a beautiful day with crystal clear skies. It was quite chilly, though. Perfect weather for April, if you ask me.

Our walk starts out back, well behind the garden, at the circle of trees that harbor Blue Girl’s grave. There are seven trees here in a circle.  That short one to the right of George is what’s left of the first tree in the circle. The vines have destroyed it.

Blue Girl lived here years ago with the family that owned this house. She was a beloved family pet and was buried here in this circle. Her little grave is covered with stones and the honeysuckle is growing over the top. The trees here have been uncared for and the vines are doing their best to kill them.

Let’s not dwell on that, though. Our walk takes us round to the front of the house. There’s a lot of shade down here along the woods that front the home. And I can see that the grass is growing very green. George has found a huge stick and is trying to get me to throw it to him.

Here I am standing directly opposite our front door. I think I see my husband sitting there in the chair. He’s probably taking a break from all that work in the garden.

Thanks for stopping by today. I’m still away with my husband and George and we’ll all be home soon.

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

  12. Are violets not just the best?

And when they sprinkle the ground with blue....

and when the wild mint purples the fields in the spring, in the midst of all that wild spring green...

happy vacation. Thank you always for welcoming us to your home.
