The three H’s

One from the files to share with you on this terribly Hazy, Hot and Humid day we’re experiencing. Watching the news this morning, I see that there are many sections in the country who are suffering from the heat. Hopefully we’ll be getting a thunderstorm here in Maryland later this afternoon and it will cool things off considerably.

This evening is graduation at our school and I’m the official unofficial photographer. I don’t recall how I was awarded this position, but I don’t mind. Too much. Basically, I line up the seniors under the front portico of the school and take their picture. Actually, that part’s a breeze, as I’ve lined them up in advance and they all know exactly where to stand. Then I go out to the receiving line in one of the courtyards and take candids. Sometimes I’m lucky. Sometimes . . . not so much.

My husband told me that he and George were discussing the fact that I am on a three hour time difference from my husband. On my days off, I go to bed three hours after him and wake up three hours later than he does. Although I agree that it’s true, I’m wondering what’s wrong with waking up at 8 am on Saturday and Sunday. And I’m sort of concerned that he’s having a conversation with the dog about it in the first place.

Now to head out for my daily hike while the path is mostly in the shade.

Love,

PS ~ You may have noticed that I’ve changed my profile pic. I couldn’t stand seeing myself in winter gear with the mittens!

  2. Hi, Marilyn. It's actually the top of a wine bottle.
I believe they speak telepathically. I find it rather endearing.

  3. What better "person" to talk to than a dog?

In my life, they have always been there, listened and have never told a secret.

We are having the heat too...I am not ready. I wanted to ease into summer, not jump in, head first.

  4. Love your profile pic (but you still need to flip it so it's not mirror image).

And yearning for some heat (I'd even take the humidity - you can keep the haze!)

  6. Don't your two boys know that it is against the law to get out of bed before 8am on the weekend???

  7. Of course he discusses this with George, the younger man never talks back and always keeps his secret!

  8. I love the wine bottle top! So it was the cap of that wine bottle, and not a personalized cork of your own?

We've been so spoiled here with beautiful weekend weather, on the south shore of New England, that I didn't even bother to check the forecast for this weekend, and was surprised when the thunderstorms rolled in yesterday afternoon while I was gardening. Turns out there will be more today! But they are intermittent, and the gardens needs them!

  9. So your husband wakes up at 5am? Goodness... that is the perfect time to roll over and go back to sleep!

We got severe storms yesterday up here and now its 60 degrees. I hope you get your share! That's what I don't miss about Maryland at all... those 3 H's!

  10. There's no better listener than a dog!

The things I don't miss from New England is the 3 H's. We get humid out here but not at all like back east. Our summer has been relatively cool so far. Usually by now, we are in the 90s. I am not complaining! :0)

  13. The extra hours are nice for your husband and George to discuss life. I'm sure George has his own opinions on different matters, but most likely keeps them to himself. It is endearing!
The students are getting a special treat with the photos you take!

  15. I bet George just goes along with him to be polite. 'Cause, you know, that's just how he rolls.

  16. I talk to my cats all the time but I don't tell anyone...oops...I just told everyone! ;)

We got one major "H" yesterday as the temps hit 95. I'm not ready! Really...I'm not ready... :(

    Enjoy grad nite Annie Leibovitz!

  17. We (meaning I directed while my hubby dug) planted a bunch of plants in this horrible heat and humidity today!

And I think the folks at your school are pretty smart to get such a great photographer for their senior pics! I graduation goes smoothly!

Mr. Tide says that I operate on Hawaiian time but unfortunately I live on the east coast...oh well I'm perfect in every other way! And I would totally talk to George, so long as he didn't bring up religion or politics! ;-)

    Kat :)

  22. We got a doozie of a storm here and the temps dropped 10 degrees in a matter of minutes. Got rid of the humidity, too.

And I think you should sleep as long as you like on the weekend!

  24. yesterday we had the heat and humidity, today the thunderstorms, all during an art festival, so neither was very helpful!
"and i feel so much depends on the weather..."
