Talking pets, cooler temps, and a quiet evening

Outside my window it’s dark and cool and I can hear the crickets chirping as I write this post tonight. I’m sitting in my favorite seat in the living room, Blackie is asleep on the bookcase, and George is at my feet. My husband’s watching Wipe Out and eating Cherry Garcia Fro Yo and he never gains an ounce.

I heard from Nikon today. They can fix my lens and it will cost just under half of what a new macro lens would cost. I said yes.

The students return to school next Monday and the faculty comes back tomorrow. This year’s senior class was in kindergarten when I came to work there and it all seems like a lifetime ago.

It’s been delightfully cool here in Maryland for the past few days and the forecast for the week and the weekend is beautiful. After the sweltering summer that most of us in the States have had, this is an absolute gift.

And now, George would like to say hello.

Take it away, George.

“Hi. It’s George here. I just want you to know that my dad never feeds me too much cheese. It’s really only a little bit and not even every night. My stomach never hurts, so please don’t worry.”

“Hi. Blackie here. I don’t get anything special on top of my food and they leave me home and take the dog when they go on vacation.”

Ok, that’s enough, Blackie.

Mommy loves you.

So how are things in your neck of the woods?

  1. Nice and cool here too!! To use the word "delightful" would not be an over exaggeration.Feels good not to sweat as soon as you step out of the shower! we are heading to the beach this weekend, I am hoping it warms up just a *tad*. I fear that our heat is not over, holding my breath for September.

  2. Yes! Finally! Comfortable here too and my garden is lapping up the rain.

It's nice that your lens can be repaired. They come with a hefty price tag.

  4. It's HOT HOT HOT HOT here (currently 100 & it's 6:50pm). I don't do heat well at all. On the upside, I am thankful & grateful to be able to afford air-conditioning...oh so thankful!!!

Yay on the macro lens. Happy day!

    p.s. I'll admit, I have cried laughing at Wipe-Out on occasion. :D

  5. The neck of the woods is fairing well here although a bit of lack of sleep going on from puppy at night.

Cooler temps are wonderful and I hear drops of rain hitting our roof right this very moment. More rain on the way this week.

Ya, those darn men NEVER gain an ounce, do they... grrrrr.

So glad your lens can be fixed, hooray!
Hi George! Hi Blackie! Blackie, cats don't like their 'box' to be relocated, so I don't think you would enjoy vacation. Just sayin'...

  17. Hooray for Nikon repair!

Things in our neck of the woods are slowly improving, Rose's ears are now more pink then red tho they are hairless! Two more weeks of the 'cure' to go.

Last nite I watched Wipe Out (without sound) thinking of you .. ToonMan was editing a new Patsy/Mickey video ...

And its raining here again .. this is Day #4 ... I dont miss the 90+ degree days or the high AC bill but I do wish it wasnt wet out there...

  21. We've actually had a few days of low humidity and it even got down to 68 last night!

But, not to last it's suppose to be back hot pretty soon.

  22. It's cool in our neck!
I feel sorry for cats they hardly ever go on trips and the neighbours have to feed them when their owners are at the cottage. (I'm not complaining)...lol

  23. Life is good. Clear, blue, sunny skies, and warm temperatures. Financially prosperous and enjoying good health (except for this annoyingly persistent back ache...). A love that I had only thought existed in fairy tales. And in two days, I'll be going on vacation and visiting a good friend. I'm not sure life gets better than this. *smile*

Thank you for asking. Give Blackie a squeeze from me. Okay, and George too, just don't let Blackie see you. *grin*

  24. Cats do like to hold a grudge, don't they? I love that silhouette photo, perfect. Nice and cool here, too. Slept with the fans off the other night, loved it.

  26. I am suffering from a case of conscience. I fear that something I wrote on my blog--a bit of a rant, you might say--may have offended a good friend. I am sensing some coolness, and am loathe to think that I may have hurt her feelings with something I said. I know it's my blog and I can say what I want to, but I am usually careful not to be offensive. So I am feeling the weight of that. Then again, I might be totally wrong and she's just preoccupied and busy with something.

That's what's going on in my neck of the woods. Or at least in my heart.
