Frosting

I’ve just come home from our annual faculty Christmas party, held at a co-worker’s home. I love her home. It’s an historic one, built before the Civil War, with a couple of additions, and she and her husband (our favorite dentist ever) have it tastefully decorated for the holidays.

It wouldn’t feel like Christmas if I didn’t see their place.

It was a small party this year, as many of my co-workers couldn’t attend for reasons beyond their control, but all in all it was wonderful. And the food was fantastic.

I slept in ‘til 7:30 this morning and when I got up, I saw that Jack Frost had left his mark on the bedroom windows.

It’s pretty chilly in our bedroom, which I actually prefer over being too warm. The only drawback is that it’s difficult to get from under those warm covers in the morning.

Today I wrapped presents. I didn’t realize how little I had until I began wrapping everything. That’s never good.

The little snowflake above is actually a strand of garland that I bought as a gift for someone. I wanted one for myself but the shop only had the one. There are about twenty snowflakes in varying sizes along a strand of silver rope. Very beautiful, I think.

I wanted to get some photos before I wrapped it all up.

I laid my jewelry out before I got dressed for the party tonight and thought it looked pretty, so I snapped a photo of it.

It’s fun getting dressed up sometimes, isn’t it?

There were years in my life that I wished I could have just cancelled Christmas. I am just so glad that this isn’t one of them.

Hope your weekend is a good one.

Love,

  8. Yes, been there......but my opinion is changing. Christmas...to me....is about feeling GOOD about what you can AFFORD to give.
It isn't about getting anything at all.
there is a lot of freedom in that.....maybe because as we get older, what we want/need becomes less and less.

  15. Jack Frost on the windows! I was a child the last time I saw any of his work. Nowadays thermopane windows keep him from painting here. Glad you shared what he left for you.

  20. Oh what beautiful images, especially the first one -- gorgeous! We love to have it cold in our bedroom, too. We always sleep with the window open till it gets in the 30's. One morning it was 43 inside! But usually it stays around 53-57. Anything warmer is too warm! lol
