Thought has a pair of dauntless wings

My husband took these photos yesterday evening. I had just come home from work and was upstairs changing to go out and take a walk.


I saw him out there with the camera and hoped he was getting some good shots.


Because it sure was a beautiful sunset.



Geese heading south for the winter fly over us.


See how high up they’re flying?


In the early spring, when they head north to their summer breeding grounds, they fly over our house much lower. They fly so low that we can hear their wings against the air.


But heading south for the winter, they fly so high you can hardly see ‘em.





I changed quickly and was on the little trail as my husband was taking these photos. There was just enough light to go around the property (about 20 acres) twice.





And the light was really beautiful.












I think this last one is my favorite. Taken while standing directly in front of the house and looking west, I like the composition and his use of the rule of thirds. 


I think bare tree branches are extremely photogenic.


And that’s all I have to say about that.
