At times, I can accomplish much

On Saturday morning, I had a few things to do before I left to spend the weekend at my sister’s place. One of them was an early morning walk, which I accomplished. At the end of the walk, as I was going by this birdhouse, a bluebird flew out and nearly collided with me.

So I decided to get a chair and my camera with the long lens and see if I could capture the bluebird when it returned to the house.

I waited for awhile, mentally ticking off the numerous things I had planned on doing this morning before I left.

But it was such a beautiful day, and I was glad to be outside in the fresh air. I could wait until the elusive bluebird returned.

I took photos of one of the other birdhouses, further up the fenceline. I bought this one last summer for my husband when I was visiting blogging friends in Mathews County, Virginia.

I was still waiting for that bluebird to return.

My husband walked by.

I got a photo of his back just for good measure. I will add it to my collection.

A beautiful cat posed for me. This is a rarity, I will have you know.

And still, no bluebird. I went inside to get coffee in order to have something to do while I continued my vigil for that bird. The hell with the vacuuming, I told myself as I splashed in a nice dollop of half and half.

I took the coffee outside with me, sipping it while I waited for the bird to appear.

And then, through the lens, I saw my little friend.

He’s bokeh here, as I focused on the fenceline.

He sees me.

He gently drops his frisbee, and doesn’t seem quite sure what to do.

I am not saying anything at this point, only sitting there with the camera.

And then I think I giggled.

Mama! Mama mama mama mama!

I believe I began laughing at this point.

DSC_0405 copy 2

The laughing makes him run faster. Mama! I’m comin’, mama!

I luuuuurve you, mama.

I believe that one of the best things in this world is having a dog that, at the sight of you, gets so darn happy that he just wants to kiss you.

Yep. That’s the best.

Needless to say, I never did catch that bluebird Saturday morning. But I do have a bluebird photo taken by my husband in February, 2009.

Such a beautiful little bird.

Thanks for stopping by today, my friends.

  6. Puppy love, it's the best! The bluebird is so pretty. I don't think they're very common up here, but I could be wrong. It's been known to happen. : )

My husband and I had a conversation about blue birds (as in birds that are blue), just the other day. What we do have around here is lots of blue jays and it struck me that besides birds and dragon flies and maybe some other insects, we couldn't think of any other animals that are blue. When you think about it blue is a strange colour for an animal. Maybe?

    That's all!

  9. Thanks for todays smile...I once sat in my garden crouched with the camera, until my legs fell asleep, then my butt, until finally, I got Mr. Bluebird delivering dinner to his family in flight just before he hung on the outside of the box...isn't nature a wonder?

  16. I relate to the doggie thing. The best. As for getting things done some days, and all those "other times," let's just say it's generally the "other times" that make the best memories.

  20. Oh, that was priceless! I'd say you accomplished a good deal, and the most important things, as well. Loved your cherry blossom post as well. Bluebirds are scarce here. One of the only ones I've seen was in a cemetery I used to walk through every day. Glad your sis is better.

  34. Wonderful post. Yes to have my Miggy so happy to see me and greet me is the best thing, nothing like the love of a dog. Wonderful photos. Have a great day !

  35. She is a beautiful little bit of sweetness, that bird.

My cats both come running to greet me at the door when I come home and they constantly follow me around the house so that I feel like I'm leading a parade. It does warm the heart.

  39. Oh I'm so glad you got it. My mama's favorite bird was the bluebird. She had a glass collection of them--one very special one that she gave to my daughter many years ago. My grandson has it now (I HOPE he still has it!) Whenever I see a bluebird, of course, I think of my beautiful little Mama with the cornflower blue eyes.
