Party at our place

For the goldfinches, that is. My husband and I took these photos late this afternoon when the goldfinches were flocking at the feeder. It had been raining on and off all day and my husband had just filled the feeder sock.

Everyone was all a-twitter.

A few came around.

And they had a field day.

There was a little fighting, as that one bird you see at the top was so aggressive. I wonder who put him in charge?

To bring more birds around, my husband filled the feeder to the top.

And there was suddenly a line to get on board.

Looking at this picture, I decided to point out a few details.

Details like where the bluebird house is located, among other things.

Please try to contain yourselves. We’re just party animals around here. Except for the B&W, who appears to be napping.

Lots of things to do this week. We’re taking another one of our famous road trips, this time to visit friends along the Gulf Coast. We’ve decided to leave before Easter rather than the day after, so I’m now in frantic mode at all that has to get done before we leave. Egads!

Off to make a list . . .

  3. That's quite the party you have going on there. The cardinals and chickadees are the heavy partiers at our feeder.

Enjoy your list making and your trip to the coast! Sounds like a plan.

  5. Those goldfinches are just full of yellow hormones. How bright they are. The one In Charge wants all the girls to himself, I bet. Have a great, safe trip, Kate. xo

  6. I tried to hang one of those mesh feeders for the finches but the stinkin' squirrels destroyed it.

Have a great trip. Does George get to go? My Sheltie loves road trips. He sits in our suitcases as we pack. :)

  7. were the birds twittering as in pulling out their iphones and tweeting how great this bird seed is or twittering as in chirp chirp :) you never know these days!

I can't believe all those gorgeous birds! Glad you are heading to the Gulf. Alabama or FLA? Most likely FLA but I had to ask.

  10. Kate, this is too funny. I was going to post something almost so similar to this. The finches were gong crazy on the feeders this morning. We must have had a dozen of them fighting for position. What's in the air today??? Some mornings they don't show up until the afternoon. I think they are cheating on me and visiting over at the neighbors!!!!
Have a great trip. We head out in a few days for gulf coast in Florida for 2 weeks. Nice to be there, but will miss all the trees which are just coming into their blooms. *sigh* (PS. please excuse any poor sentence structure ... on the train back from NYC after wonderful meal with my son who just finished the Boston Marathon!) Love NYC but it is late and 2 glasses of wine do NOT make me a better typist on my iPad.
