Good morning, beautiful

Today was a beautiful day.

A sunflower greeted me early this morning at my husband’s garden.

The cheerful faces of the morning glories as they climb the garden perimeter.

(apologies to my friend, Daryl, whose morning glories passed away at a young age after being destroyed by caterpillars.)

A juvenile red-bellied woodpecker stopped by for some suet cake. I notice the absence of his parents today, although I read that the young chicks stay with them until fall.

I read a book over the weekend that I had no idea was a “hot summer read”, according to the review I just found on my sidebar. I just know I loved the book, a love story/murder mystery that takes place in both Biloxi and New Orleans, going back and forth from the present day to the past.

You can read the review here:

And finally, guess who turns four years old today?

George was born on July 11, 2007 in Ellsworth, Maine. His mother just had another litter of puppies, which should be ready to sell in early August. You can check out the Facebook page below.

Sheepscot Border Collies

And no, in case you’re wondering, there will not be a party. But someone might get a new toy (and something yummier than usual for dinner).

Hope you all have a wonderful start to your week. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by today.

  12. Well first and foremost, happy birthday to a very handsome border collie, who is proudly displayed on my office wall in the form of a calendar!

Sunflowers are really lovely flowers, so vibrant. I nearly bought a bunch last week but went from freesias instead.

Have a lovely day with your birthday boy!

  13. Give George a birthday ear-scratch for me! (BTW - Petco sells these treats (that look like a pile of poop when they're on the floor) that Stella-Bella adores. They come in red or yellow and are part of the doggy treat bucket table in the front of every Petco store.)
    Miss you, Miss K.

  17. I must have been evil in a previous lifetime....because I'm being tortured by MG's.

I've been pulling thousands of morning glories up in the yard and garden.

I have no idea where all these seeds came from.
