Evening stroll

I was on a holiday-induced high when I arrived home from work yesterday. It was the last day of school before our holiday break, and we had an early dismissal. On the way home, I had 3 stops to make. One was to a student’s house to deliver his laptop that he accidentally left behind (after I discovered to whom it belonged), another was to our former headmaster’s house to drop off fudge made by one of our families, and the final stop was to the printer to drop off a project I’d been working on.

I also stopped to buy a fresh wreath for one of our doors.

The last Friday before break is one of the happiest days of the year at our school. We hold caroling around the tree in the lobby, and many of our former students return to visit with us. I love it. And I’m so glad to have off for the next two weeks.

I took the pup for a walk when I got home, and it was a bit cold out there, baybee.

I still love squiggles.

This is actually two photos, above. I did a panorama in Photoshop.

Choose file > Automate > Photomerge.

You can tell we’re on a hill in this photo.

This season is so difficult for so many people. If you’re having trouble, please remember that you’re not alone. And that it won’t always be this way.

And that I care.

Walking is just plain good for the soul. I remember my husband giving me these hiking poles one year and I absolutely love ‘em. They keep me steady, and the motion while using them is good for me.

Today I made 6 dozen gingerbread kiss cookies for the cookie exchange, using {this recipe} from the McCormick spice website. I’ll share some photos tomorrow.

Tonight I’m planning on basking in the glow of my little tree, having a cocktail, and watching The Holiday, a new favorite of mine.

.

This is rather lengthy, but the scene at the end grabs my heart every time I watch it. These little girls who play Jude Law’s daughters are so perfect in their roles. A good movie to watch this time of year.

Enjoy your weekend, my friends ~ and love one another.

what a saint you are for returning a laptop before the holiday break....because you know, kids and adults alike, self destruct without their technical devices :)
