It’s good for you

The weather this weekend was glorious. Although quite a bit chilly with the breeze on Friday, each day seemed warmer after that. The buds on some of the trees are bursting with color.

I can smell the scent of the earth. And hear the spring peeps in the evening.

My husband tilled the garden on Saturday morning, which made the robins (and me) happy.

George was taken for a bath in the self-service stall at the pet wash where, for just over ten bucks, he can smell a hundred percent better and his coat will be soft and silky.

When we got home, he jumped out of the car and was so excited to be back to his peaceful domain that he promptly treed a squirrel.

And he kept him up there for over three hours.

I’m not kidding.

Here’s the little varmint. He fell asleep in the warmth of the sun.

Some of you asked what the metal stand thing was in one of my bird photos. This is our hillbilly yard where my husband has erected all sorts of enticing treats for the feathered friends that visit us here.

The picnic table is used to feed and water the birds. We never eat there. On the table, he’s added a branch because the birds like to perch on it before going down for their seed. The little stand is something we found in a basement in one of the homes we lived over the years. I have no idea of it’s original purpose.

But it’s very good at holding up one side of a branch.

And it makes an interesting backdrop.

I saw this ad on TV tonight while watching the news. My husband and I really liked it, so I found it to share with you.

.

Have a wonderful day, all ~

Thanks for stopping by my little corner here.

  2. Wish I had a George to stand guard outside my classroom door where 2 squirrels regularly hop up on the kids' backpacks (which hang on hooks on the wall) to see if any are open so they can steal sandwiches and drag them off across the grass to eat!!! It is an amazing sight and they are incredibly resourceful!!

  7. Ooooo, I haven't heard the morning birds yet. Maybe I'm not listening enough. Boooo Love the photo of the squirrel asleep. I have one living in the knot of the tree next to the kitchen window. Watched him go back and forth last Sunday and then just sit on a limb and close his eyes. I thought for sure he would fall off. I need to fall asleep in the sun! And I need my garden tilled bad!

  8. The birds are happily chirping away here early in the morning. The robins and red winged blackbirds are back with their birdsong. I LOVE IT.

I have a Shetland Sheepdog that adores tennis balls. My son plays tennis, so we have tennis balls every where in our home. :)

  10. george and his squirrel watching just cracks me up...the extra limb cracked me up, too....but hey, why not keep your beautiful birds happy, right :)

i think that metal thing used to have a glass holder in it for a candle. it looks similar to something i used to have.

the budding and blooming....it's happening here, too and i'm ecstatic :)

  24. I'm just smiling at the thought of George having a bath! Not something border collies enjoy doing too much but I'm sure he looked a million dollars when he'd finished! Our dogs hate being washed though they often come back from fields stinking of badger poo - they love rolling in it, ewwww!!

  25. good commercial.

Great pictures. I have my own little hillbilly area...

I'd luv to see more about the self service dog wash. Good idea.

I never knew dog grooming was so huge until I went by a friends to pick up something.

  26. What a great commercial; it actually put tears in my eyes! After a couple of sick days, my dogs have been desperate for my attention which has been a little annoying while I'm still not up to snuff, but this commercial reminds me of how they might see the situation. I think I need to go play with them.... :-)

  27. Every morning when I go out with Gracie onto my back patio, I am greeted by the melody of a mockingbird perched onto the roof of the home behind ours. My favorite song is that of the mockingbird! Down here the redbuds and the Bradford pears are in bloom. The 'Easter grass' is up, and one can see the hint of green on the trees in the distant woods. Spring is definitely here in southeast Texas. We all know it because we all have 'the crud'. For some it has gone into bronchitis and for a few into pneumonia. I was able to kill mine with some OTC meds. But my sinuses are playing havoc with me today! Awwwww, spring in Texas. Love it...NOT!
