Hello and top ‘o the mornin’ to you on this snowy St. Patrick’s Day. I knew we were getting a little snow overnight but was upset to find out that it was enough to close all the schools and it’s still coming down out there.
I took a few shots from my windows and then settled down to enjoy my coffee. I had let George out when I got up and then noticed that the one big feeder was empty so I put on my boots and in my robe, went out and filled it. I can’t enjoy my coffee knowing that there are hungry birds out there, you know.
The weekend was beautiful, especially Saturday with temps of 65 and sunny skies with beautiful puffy clouds. After my morning chores, I packed my bags and George’s travel food bowl and took off to visit long-time friends in New Jersey. Had a beautiful time of it and George enjoyed himself immensely.
I can see my tracks in the snow here.
We have about six inches on the ground so far and it’s still coming down a bit. There’s more on the car, though. Probably because the ground was so warm to begin with.
I had a surprise in my e-mail box this weekend from a rental agency in Maine. I have a cottage reserved for a week with my sisters. This is the booking from last year when I was taking my husband up there for one last time. He began failing shortly before the trip however, and I had to cancel it. I couldn’t get my money back but they said I could save the booking for next year. So I upgraded to a bigger place after asking my three sisters if they wanted to come. And they all did! Two are flying in and one is driving up with me.
The surprise was that the cottage I had upgraded to has been sold and was not available as a rental anymore. Darn! They had two other cottages for the same week to offer in its place and one of them was just perfect plus it was less expensive. I like it even more than the one I had reserved. So it was a win win all the way around.
I can’t believe that the first day of spring is only three days away.
This has been one extraordinarily long winter.
In more ways than just the weather.
But I’ve got coffee.
Life is good.
I showed my friends this video yesterday. Cracked them up.
Here’s to a good week for all of us ~
Until next time, my friends . . .
It snowed a little here, but not near as much as you received.
ReplyDeleteI love the first photo so pretty.
I envy you going to Maine with your sisters. I have always wanted to go, hopefully soon I will get the opportunity.
I am traveling to Wisconsin in August to see my three siblings and my mom. We will all go to the Wisconsin State Fair. I can't wait.
I am glad everything worked out with the rental.
Hi to George!
You and your sisters are going to have a blast.
ReplyDeleteDang Winter just won't let go.
Your back ard does look pretty.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone told the weather that Spring is Thursday?
I agree though as long as I have a good cup of coffee my mornings are golden :)
The snow is beautiful - especially from inside a warm house with a hot cup of coffee and time to enjoy! But enough already...
ReplyDeleteCrazy weather here too! 70s one day, snow the next. What can you do?
ReplyDeleteGlad you will be able to get away to the cabin with your sisters. I have 3 sisters too! :)
Sleet here today..... I am so ready for Spring!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you and George had a nice weekend :)
and LOVE that Video :)
Lovely coffee mug, lovely shots of that snowy garden, lovely news about the cottage - what a lovely upbeat post.
ReplyDeleteI know that heaps of snow are not fun, but I must say that the view from your window is exceptionally beautiful. And your garden, covered in snow is mesmerizing. Lovely images! Stay warm!

ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful news...a cabin with your sisters.
ReplyDeleteLoved the video.
May you always have coffee and much more.
I'm glad the cabin worked out for the best. Your pictures from Maine are always so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd as a Virginia girl I'm getting pretty tired of all this snow. I'm ready for the greenery!
We have about 5 inches on the ground and it's still snowing a little...crazy St. Paddy's Day weather! And I'm glad the cabin worked out to your advantage! Stay warm!

Beautiful photos of the snow. The storm missed us here in Central Massachusetts, but it is COLD. Enjoy your visit to Maine. Sounds like things worked out well. Love that video of the dog wanting his kitten. Made me smile!
ReplyDeleteOur broadband is playing up again and it's taken me three minutes to watch 10 second of the video....I'm sure it was great!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how much snow you guys have had this year. After our endless rain and flooding, we've been spoilt with a week of early spring sunshine. I was walking in a vest today! xx
This sounds wonderful!!!...
ReplyDeleteAnd we've still got the cold temps, but no snow this time, thankfully!
That video has been one of my favorites for awhile now. Someone is supremely creative!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are going to make some new Maine memories with your sisters – and I can't BELIEVE the winter the East has had.
Glad you have that trip to look forward to! You deserve a wonderful spring after such a winter.
ReplyDeleteVideo doesn't pull up on my ipad. But I look forward to seeing on computer at home. I could use a smile today.
And I am just now noticing the header change.... Please don't tell me it's been that way for months and months. Regardless, I like it :-)
I'm beginning to believe that seasons other than winter are just a myth. It's been relentless here. And we haven't had more than a few inches of snow in the past few weeks but it just doesn't warm up for long.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful about the cottage. What a great holiday .. you and your sisters. I'd love to do that with my sister. You give me ideas. :)
That video.. I've seen it before but love it. There's no shortage of clever people out there. Too cute.
isn't that just the cutest video ever. Sometimes I wish our pets could talk. Let is Snow, Let is Snow, Let it Snow, as long as I'm not in it! Bwhahahaha okay that was a little rude I know, but I am enjoying the 60 degrees today. Have fun with your snow and I shall think of you as you have miles to go before you sleep or dig your way out. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been hit with snow storm after snow storm! We have not seen snow here since late January. Your photos are lovely as always!
ReplyDeleteOh no - not more snow. I'm sure we've not seen the last of it either, but so far, so good. Here's to hoping your snow melts quickly and warmer temps will come with the calendars arrival of spring.
ReplyDeleteCindy
It does look pretty though .. but, it's time for some sunshine and flowers.
ReplyDeleteLove that dog wanting a cat video.
Hope your cottage adventure is just too much fun.
Ugh, I have to say I am done with cold & snow this year. It was high 60's Sat & then we got a few inches of snow Sun. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteGlad your week is working out for Maine. I will make it up there someday.
Have a good week, Kate.
It has been a long winter I know--in many ways...I'm sure. The constant weather changes have been...interesting? to say the last!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear you and George are traveling--and good to hear your Maine vacation will still be possible and in an even cottage. It must be so good to have sisters! Blessings, Kate

Hi Kate, I am so glad to hear that you will get to go to Maine with your sisters. That will be a fun trip for you. The snow is lovely, isn't? But, yes, this winter has been the coldest that I can remember in years. OMG I cannot stop laughing at that video. So adorable.

ReplyDeleteOh my, that video cracked us up! Mhairi and Christie (Border Collies both) say Hi to George. (They think he's a very handsome fellow.)
ReplyDeleteThis storm missed us, though we still have remnants of last week's snow hanging around. I hope it's starting to melt for you by now.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping that Spring shows up on time!
And yay for your rental, it sounds like it will be a lovely trip.
FANTASTIC on the cottage! I just booked my summer cottage at the beach and feel a huge relief that there is something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that your sisters can join you. Just wonderful.
Hi Kate... Just wishing we could have had a little of the lovely white stuff here. I've had a week off from work, it's been colder but oh how just a few flakes would have perked me up! And with a new camera lens to play with...darn it!!
ReplyDeletePS...I have five sisters.. Think we'd squeeze in as well? Enjoy. X
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of winter --it's been a cold one for us and will be freezing tonight!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for a trip to Maine in a few months with my best friend and my sister. Girl trips are the best! Is George going too?
How wonderful to have time and a place and sisters to share it.
ReplyDeleteWe will be in Maine with the family in August and camping in Sylvie in July....
