Yet another snow day

Hello and top ‘o the mornin’ to you on this snowy St. Patrick’s Day. I knew we were getting a little snow overnight but was upset to find out that it was enough to close all the schools and it’s still coming down out there.

I took a few shots from my windows and then settled down to enjoy my coffee. I had let George out when I got up and then noticed that the one big feeder was empty so I put on my boots and in my robe, went out and filled it. I can’t enjoy my coffee knowing that there are hungry birds out there, you know.

The weekend was beautiful, especially Saturday with temps of 65 and sunny skies with beautiful puffy clouds. After my morning chores, I packed my bags and George’s travel food bowl and took off to visit long-time friends in New Jersey. Had a beautiful time of it and George enjoyed himself immensely.

I can see my tracks in the snow here.

We have about six inches on the ground so far and it’s still coming down a bit. There’s more on the car, though. Probably because the ground was so warm to begin with.

I had a surprise in my e-mail box this weekend from a rental agency in Maine. I have a cottage reserved for a week with my sisters. This is the booking from last year when I was taking my husband up there for one last time. He began failing shortly before the trip however, and I had to cancel it. I couldn’t get my money back but they said I could save the booking for next year. So I upgraded to a bigger place after asking my three sisters if they wanted to come. And they all did! Two are flying in and one is driving up with me.

The surprise was that the cottage I had upgraded to has been sold and was not available as a rental anymore. Darn! They had two other cottages for the same week to offer in its place and one of them was just perfect plus it was less expensive. I like it even more than the one I had reserved. So it was a win win all the way around.

I can’t believe that the first day of spring is only three days away.

This has been one extraordinarily long winter.

In more ways than just the weather.

But I’ve got coffee.

Life is good.

I showed my friends this video yesterday. Cracked them up.

Here’s to a good week for all of us ~

Until next time, my friends . . .

  1. It snowed a little here, but not near as much as you received.

I love the first photo so pretty.

I envy you going to Maine with your sisters. I have always wanted to go, hopefully soon I will get the opportunity.

I am traveling to Wisconsin in August to see my three siblings and my mom. We will all go to the Wisconsin State Fair. I can't wait.

I am glad everything worked out with the rental.

    Hi to George!

  15. Our broadband is playing up again and it's taken me three minutes to watch 10 second of the video....I'm sure it was great!

I can't believe how much snow you guys have had this year. After our endless rain and flooding, we've been spoilt with a week of early spring sunshine. I was walking in a vest today! xx

  19. I'm beginning to believe that seasons other than winter are just a myth. It's been relentless here. And we haven't had more than a few inches of snow in the past few weeks but it just doesn't warm up for long.

That's wonderful about the cottage. What a great holiday .. you and your sisters. I'd love to do that with my sister. You give me ideas. :)

That video.. I've seen it before but love it. There's no shortage of clever people out there. Too cute.

  20. isn't that just the cutest video ever. Sometimes I wish our pets could talk. Let is Snow, Let is Snow, Let it Snow, as long as I'm not in it! Bwhahahaha okay that was a little rude I know, but I am enjoying the 60 degrees today. Have fun with your snow and I shall think of you as you have miles to go before you sleep or dig your way out. :)

  22. Oh no - not more snow. I'm sure we've not seen the last of it either, but so far, so good. Here's to hoping your snow melts quickly and warmer temps will come with the calendars arrival of spring.
