I should be cleaning

Gah! I should be cleaning my house but after a super early appointment to have the car serviced today, I am finding no energy at all.

I think I’ll drink a big ‘ol glass of iced tea (Earl Grey, thank you) and head to the store to buy the correct belt for my vacuum. The belt broke almost 2 weeks ago and of course, the store that sells the vacuum didn’t sell replacement belts. So I bought something I thought would work. Not only did it not work, but I think it may have ruined the motor. It was smoking. But before I go out and put the money towards a new vacuum, I’ll see if just getting the proper belt will fix the problem.

Aren’t you so glad you stopped by so that you could hear of my cleaning woes?

It’s a bit humid today in my little corner of Maryland, but nothing terrible. This afternoon, I think I’ll make a cocktail and take a swim in the pool.

Unfortunately, I keep forgetting that we do not have a pool. Maybe I’ll just run through the sprinkler, although it’s not as fun as it used to be. Like when I was six.

Gah!

Until later, my friends . . . and maybe my house will be clean by then . . .

  1. It's raining intermittently, here, and I have done nothing all day! Well, except for a couple of loads of laundry, and drinking coffee.

Today just feels like one of those days that MPM had last week...stay in your pj's and do nothin' kind of day (except...I've already put on clothes...and am too lazy to change). Oh, well, my favorite rubber ducky pj's are in the wash anyway. And, besides, your photo is starting to make me feel a little cheery...so, maybe I'll get up and do start cleaning this house.

I guess all I really needed was a little inspiration! Thanks, Kate!

  2. Oh, you and me, both. I'm sitting here thinking, what in the heck am I doing? My kitchen floor is hideous kinky.

  3. you've made me smile :)

i have always preferred the ocean to a pool. but yesterday i was in a hotel pool after more than ten years. and it was just pure pleasure lying in the water, drink in hand. without having to worry about a wave splashing on to me.

  4. Go to Wal-Mutant and get yourself some slip-n-slides. Pour yourself a glass of SumthinSumthin and dive in headfirst. Seriously. It will cure whatever ails ya, almost like Hills Bay except not as relaxing.

  5. I NEVER find energy to clean house!! With that said, tomorrow is a new day my friend...mix yourself a yummy cocktail, fill a bowl with hot sudsy water and dip your feet in there and sit back with your cocktail and let George entertain you...you'll feel very good..I promise you...:-))

  8. well, the pool may not be available, and running through the sprinkler may not be as much fun as it was, but I think just the thought of it is enough to make you smile.
Cleaning is highly over rated. I have a sign in my kitchen that says....."cleaned yesterday, sorry you missed it".

  9. I gotta clean my room, but I really don't want to. So I'm not. :)

Running through the sprinklers just loses its appeal, doesn't it? I prefer to watch the birds dive through and my puppy tiptoe around the outside edge of the water with her eyes squinted shut. Those are much more entertaining these days.

  10. It is so humid here this afternoon, I thought maybe I had moved to Louisiana.

We went grocery shopping and I needed a Xanax when we were done, but I have none of those happy little pills, so I will make a glass of blueberry pom tea and play with my fabric.

  11. Cleaning. Smeaning. Who needs it?

Take the afternoon off. Turn on the hose and enjoy the cool water on your feet, legs, arms and everything else.

Baby powder is a wonderful thing in humid weather.

  14. That's what I did on Friday - cleaned the whole house top to bottom. We have family here for the long w/e. So I know of what you speak ... ;-)

I think you should get out the sprinkler and run through it -- why not?

    Hope you're having a good w/e!

  15. I sure hope the elves come and clean for you. And when they're done, please ask them to come to my house.

If you lived closer, you'd be welcome to come to my house for a swim. The water was beautiful today.

  16. The dust has dust ... but I am using my aching sciatica as excuse for not doing anything about it.

  18. Oh gosh, hate to vacuum, hate to dust, actually hate to clean. Just play, the dust will keep I'm sure.
