About a month ago, I was feeling a little bored and took a photograph of some of the books in my bookcase and ended up posting it on my blog. How boring, I thought. A picture of my bookcase? To my surprise, a reader e-mailed to tell me that she saw her border collie book on my bookshelf.
When she looked closer at the book, however, she realized that it wasn’t hers. But what a surprise she had for a moment there. She introduced herself, telling me that she’s a freelance writer with a specialty in canine welfare. She said that she’d stumbled upon my blog about six months prior and enjoyed the photos of George. And then she offered to send me a copy of her book.
And just a few days later, this gift came in the mail.
There’s a wealth of information on the breed, and some excellent advice. Tracy Libby has written several books for both the Terra-Nova Series and the Animal Planet Pet Care Library.
And I’m always surprised at who’s out there reading this blog.
Published authors, no less.
I’ve said it before Tracy, and I’ll say it again. Thanks so much for the gift. Love it.
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .
Hope your Wednesday’s a good one.
That is sooooo Cool!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful surprise! I think that people would rather see everyday things on a blog than anything else. Personally, I enjoyed the bookcase shot;)
ReplyDeleteJust shows the fantastic power of blogging, Kate - it never ceases to amaze me how our words go round the world. The book looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteHow neat. Maybe if she writes a second book on border collies, she'll use George's picture in it!
ReplyDeleteTwo things that I love dearly: getting mail (other than bills) and getting a new book! How fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! Are you working on an agent for George? Maybe he can make the cover of her next book :)

I love the shot of your bookshelves and books. I see one of NC, my home, and others that I also own. My first inclination, upon entering someone's home for the first time, is to look for their bookshelves and the type of books they own..I'm a SERIOUS book nut! To my astonishment many have NONE...just can't imagine how they exist..
ReplyDeleteHow very kind of her! It is amazing how many people actually read blogs. I will never forget when I got my car and an executive from Ford left a comment on my post about it. I've never gotten free stuff, though ;0)
ReplyDeleteHow fun is that?! I love books of all kinds. I'll never be a Kindle kid.
ReplyDeleteIt IS very funny when someone pops up in the comments after lurking for a while. There are all number of connections happening, all the time. Love it.
I love the Interwebs for this very reason!
