Let’s try this again

I apologize for yesterday’s video that nobody is able to view. Like millions of YouTube users, I violated a copyright that WMG (Warner Music Group) has when I used a Lyle Lovett tune to go with my photographs. YouTube offers an audio swap out option, but so far I can find nothing that fits (and very few artists I recognize). My video is up, but the audio has been disabled. So until I find a replacement tune, the only way to hear the music and see the video, for now, is this:

Right click on the Lyle Lovett link below and open in another tab. Then come back here real quick and hit play on my video.

Lyle Lovett–Nobody Knows Me

And yes, I know that the above YouTube offering is also violating a copyright; it’s just that they haven’t been flagged yet.

I really dislike doing illegal things.

With the exception of a single photo, all pictures in this video were taken this past weekend.

  1. You're right, that's a beautiful song to go with those wonderful photos. My favorites were the butterflies, the sailboat, and the first purple hydrangeas picture. Lovely Kate. :)

  2. Beautiful images, Kate. You've captured the essence of summer.

I had a much milder warning when I posted my son's 21st birtday video at the end of June. I used a Neil Young song, and it was flagged but only disallowed for viewing in Germany. I thought that odd.. why only there? But I was just as happy that it went through as it was the perfect song for the purpose.

  3. Beautiful, Kate! I'm glad you tried again with Nobody Knows Me--I love that song! My favorite was the image of the hydrangeas in the window with the curtains. How peaceful and how YOU!

  12. You know I kind of think it's funny that artists and Youtube ban us from using songs. I've found more songs by seeing them in videos and slideshows and then downloaded them legally through itunes so I think they actually make money when people promote the artist's music...but hey, what do I know?! I mean that's how the Grateful Dead became a household name! Well I know that your images are gorgeous, that much I do know!

    Kat :)

  13. OK, I am not glad to hear that you have been flagged also, but it is kind of comforting to know that it wasn't just me.

My video was only up for seconds, and I had no idea that I could not use a song from my computer. Live and learn...sigh.

Lovely video, Lyle Lovett music or not.

  20. lovely, as always. The signature squiggle pics and the mystery man pics are delightful. I know your hubby isn't really a mystery....but the somewhat revealed, somewhat concealed pics from the back convey that little aura of mysteriousness. is that a word?

  21. Its lovely and the music isnt missed by me anyway .. I hummed along .. I am also in mourning for my morning glories.. some sort of little green caterpillar/worm has destroyed them all ... that's it I am over it not going to plant them ever again ..

  22. Oh Kate, that is BEAUTIFUL! The right music really adds a bit of magic, doesn't it? And I agree with Kat -- I would think that the free publicity would trump the piracy... :)

  27. Not being a Lovett fan, did not miss it at all. Instead, I thoroughly enjoyed the placid solitude of these beyond lovely shots. What an artist you are! Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us!
