As I write this it’s Saturday evening. The snow stopped late this afternoon, 24 hours after it began and all-told we look to have at least 2-feet, possibly more with drifts of 4 to 5-feet.
I took these photos from the windows of the breakfast nook earlier this afternoon. All day long the snow would turn fine and misty and then big fluffy flakes would fall for awhile.
My husband took George on several walks and I was out there once. But you really can’t get very far because of how deep it is. Walking is very difficult but it helped to use the poles.
It’s so quiet outside now.
Tomorrow we begin the job of digging out around the house. We have one door that we can get in and out of, so this is good.
It will still be awhile before that driveway gets plowed out. But until then, all is fine.
And beautiful.

Isn't the snow beautiful? Peaceful, quiet, cold, pretty. I trekked around our home earlier, got really cold and wet, but enjoyed the snow. Thanks for sharing your pictures, Kate.

ReplyDeleteIt is quite beautiful and amazing how quiet it can get. They're' predicting more for us here on Monday...EGADS...this has been the snowiest winter we've ever had. Makes me want to move south for the winter, really!

ReplyDeleteWe've been hearing about the storm and major snowfall in the news over here. Glad you are ok and didn't lose power. What type of zoom lens do you have so you can get those great bird photos??

ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of the birds also, but as for the silence, there is almost a roar of the snow, I guess it's the wind and power of it. We also got about another 6 inches to go with last weekends snow. It should help us appreciate the Spring when it has sprung.

ReplyDeleteLove the snow pictures! I lived in Cascade in the early 70's and remember how beautiful it was, especially after a good snow. There's something in now the snow affects the light that makes everything seem magical. I really miss it (but don't miss the shoveling).
