Nothing but randomness

I’m sitting in my favorite spot this evening with George at my feet, half-heartedly watching the Singing Survivor Show with my husband.

This post is all over the place, so bear with me, ok?

First – I found the video below on a site my youngest son told me about. It’s called One Cool Thing a Day and I visit it from time to time.

Thought you might like.

* smiles *

I think I’ve watched it sixteen times already . . .

: : :

I took this shot of the moon last week but am posting it now after all the moon hype has died down because it’s so like me to be a day late and a dollar short.

It would’ve been better if it wasn’t hand-held.

Got the Shadowbox Kit {here} although I’m not sure I used it correctly. Looks fine, though, as far as I’m concerned.

: : :

I’m going to make something yummy this weekend. And it’s gluten-free.

Gluten-Free Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp-Crumble

Have you visited Karina’s site? She’s fantastic.

: : :

For the past few weeks, I have completely fallen off the gluten-free wagon. And I’m not happy about it. But I’ve decided that even more important than not eating white flour is not eating sugar. Sugar is not your friend.

: : :

Today I found out I have Osteoarthritis (OA) in my knee. At first I was a little depressed, but then I told myself to get over it. I’d much rather hear this diagnosis than one that begins with a C.

: : :

And now I’ll leave you with this.

i can't say i'm sugar free, as there is sugar in a few things i eat, but not much.
so far all i know is that i think about food more than i ever used to :(
have you had the chocolate flavored rice cakes. YUM !!

the whole knee thing sucks, but you're right, it doesn't start with the letter C.

  6. Love the video, the moon shot is amazing, and the turtle pic is priceless when paired with the saying!

I have fallen off the gluten free wagon a time or 2 but gotten right back on, and you are so right about the whole sugar thing. Why does everything yummy have to be so darned bad for you?!

Sorry about your diagnosis, but I know you'll find ways to work around it.

  7. What the hey is wrong with the moon shot?? I loved it.

And the turtle-I've always had a thing for turtles...but not OA knees. No--not that. Sorry about that.:(

  8. Such a clever video -- thanks. I'm still smiling:))

Nothing like a little arthritis to make us feel older, huh?? Bummer!! Hope you find a way to make it feel better. I'm battling it, too. More hip than knee right now. I keep waiting to see which joint will go next!!:))

  9. If it's any encouragement, the more time you can ditch the sugar and the gluten, the OA flare-ups may possibly lessen.... my joints do not bother me nearly as much, if I try to use things like a little honey or chopped dates to sweeten food (on special occasions.) I also try to find as many anti-inflammatory foods as I can, and I avoid dairy... Best of luck !
It is never too late to share the moon with us !

  16. Ah, where do we start....that poor turtle, honestly, that poor turtle.

I am sorry to hear that you have osteo in your knee, it sucks, my Dad has it in both legs, and throughout other places.

Can they give you medication for it?

  19. I am sorry to hear of your OA, I know...I too suffer from it, make sure your vitamin D level is up. Simple blood test will determine that. The sun and over the counter vitamin D sometimes is just not enough. It will make a huge difference in your energy level. I am sorry, some days will be good and some days not so good, I have tried so many things and the one that I highly suggest is NOT to take steroids! Exercise is always good and in moderation as so you don't flare up! BTW, your moon shot was beautiful!

  20. Great video - will watch it again later. I may get obsessed like I did with that dog one who wants the cheese. did you see that?
Love the moon - in what way exactly could it be better? you should see the photo I took here in Granollers - it could be any full moon , any time, any where.

Sorry about the OA but glad it isn't a meniscus tear which can be nasty to get healed. Lots you can do to help the OA though as I'm sure you know!

Happy Friday night and weekend to come Kate x

  24. Love this whole post. Good things here. I am sure drs. told you all of your choices. I did cortisone once for mine. Next came bilateral replacement. Yikes, both done at the same time. Recovery was actually easy and I was driving in 4 weeks. Perking along like a champ on new knees now. :D Thinking of you. {{{}}}
