Orange you glad?

That some days are better than others?

I know I am.

Yesterday was one of those not so good days. I nearly didn’t write a post last night and when I went to Sarah’s blog, I’d finally had it with the unjustness of life in general. Especially when it comes to cancer.

But today I was inspired by your comments, your prayers and your visits to see her – to show your support. I also had no idea how many sisters-in-law she has because three of them wrote me.

Today was a good day that started with my husband taking the car for an early shopping run and filling it up with gas for me. This was followed by an e-mail from a blogging friend which had good news mixed with bad, but the end result was uplifting and heartwarming.

I got my hair done at hoitytoityville after work and it looks good. And now I’m watching Survivor with my husband. During commercials, we turn on the Singing Survivor Show, which he now remembers is called American Idol. I like that he remembers this.

And then Casey came on. And his simple rendition of Nat King Cole’s Nature Boy was absolutely perfect. And it fit him to a ‘T’. I liked it more than the original, frankly.

(UPDATE: I found it on YouTube).

There was a boy
A very strange enchanted boy
They say he wandered very far, very far
Over land and sea
A little shy
And sad of eye
But very wise
Was he
And then one day
A magic day he came my way
And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings
This he said to me
"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"
(instrumental interlude)"The greatest thing
You'll ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return"

I love when something fits to a ‘T’, don’t you?

Love ya more than polenta,

Casey is very unique, and whether he stays or goes, I am sure he has a long, successful career ahead of him.
Yes, I am glad some days are better than others.

I'm glad today was a better day for you. And you are so right, cancer is a very unjust disease!

That rendition is wonderful and it did fit him to a T!

I can't believe that I have never heard another a version of this song other than the one in Moulin Rouge! Also I wish I could've seen you while you were visiting Mom. When I read your blog, I imagine we're all together. Love you!

Life would be too boring and smooth without the ups and downs of good days and bad, I suppose. I'd be willing to give it a try, tho! :)

So right ... some days are better ... and then ... there are people in the world who reach out, as you have, Kate, to all of us with your words and photos. Thank you!
American Idol ... they are all darn good ... I loved Casey's song and though I'm not a metal rock fan, still lovin' James. And then, there's Scotty. *Sigh*

Life is just a series of "ups and downs", but we seem to make it through all of them one way or another(thank goodness for those "ups"). My prayers go out to Sarah--what a difficult challenge to have to face. Lovely, colorful tulips--they bring joy to our hearts and remind us of the great beauty in the world, and that life is still pretty spectacular most of the time. Mickie :)

And your collage is amazing!

Glad you had a better day!

I really enjoyed that performance by Casey. I love how all the contestants this year are staying true to themselves instead of doing what someone else says.

No reality shows for us .. there's enough reality without having it on TV ... and I beg to differ. Nat King Cole's Nature Boy is THE version .. maybe I am just cranky but still ..

Thanks for including the YouTube clip of Casey. I missed seeing Idol last night and wondered what he had done. I didn't know they had YouTube clips of the contestants.

Mr O and I agreed that Casey was the best of the night...unfortunately we never actually vote...I loved the fact that Stephen Tylers mother used to sing that song to him when he was young:)

Your orange tulips are as beautiful as you Kate!

I was having a 'whine party' without the cheese and crackers because I broke my foot and I'm very immobile at the moment. Then God put it on my heart that having a broken foot was not a bad thing. Afterall, my sister...who has cancer and will most probably not be here for Christmas...would trade her cancer for a broken foot anyday. No matter was is going on in our lives, it could possibly be worse! Prayers to all you are ill and living with diseases, especially living with cancer.
