His favorite thing

DSC_0374 copy2

My husband took these great photos on Friday. It's always a surprise to sit down at the computer, open the photo disc and find lots of new images to download. With this series of George photos, I guess you could say that it was a collaborative effort between my husband and myself.

DSC_0380 copy 2

He took the photos and I worked on them in Photoshop. So see, we're a team. But don't tell him, though. He could care less. "I just take the photos", he says. "Sometimes they're good and sometimes they're not. It's just another day".

This is his favorite saying, my husband's, "it's just another day."

If I were to imitate him, I would say his favorite saying using Eyore's voice. You remember him, the donkey from Winnie the Pooh? The one who says, "Thanks for noticin' me." You need to say it that way.

"It's just another day."

But I digress. And it's not nice to imitate people. It is FUNNY, though.

I'm still amazed that my husband can toss frisbees and shoot photos at the same time.

I, on the other hand, am totally inept at tossing and shooting.

I used Pioneer Woman's sepia tone on each of these picutres, then brushed away the sepia color from the frisbee. Then I ran another action called boost over the flattened image. I learned how to do it here at her photography blog. It's so simple, that a 4-year-old can do it. (Have you seen that commercial??!!)

And if you have Photoshop, you should grab PW's free actions and try this yourself. It takes just a moment to achieve.

George knows he's not supposed to chew the frisbee. George!!

DSC_0387 copy 2

Who? What? I wasn't doing anything wrong.

My husband even caught George leaping with all four paws off the ground.

My husband is amazing.

You are too, George. You are, too.

Lotsa love and until tomorrow, my friends . . .

I love Eeyore. I picked up an original "Winnie The Pooh" with the original illustrations at a yard sale and the lady gave it to me. I rescued it. The sheep now resides with Mental P in Connecticut. He is woolly happy now.

I must admit, when we picked out J.E.N.N.Y I had George in mind..he's just wonderful...What expression on his face, I can actually hear him talking...through the photos...well...that is if dog's talked!

And speaking of talking...I "heard" your husband talking like Eeyore in your posting. It's just another day...I like it, keeps things simple..and that's me..Simple Simon... ;-)) hahahaha!!! Have a wonderful Sunday!

Great photos. I read that post at PW's, but I don't have photoshop so I've never tried it. But I think you did a terrific job adding back in the red around George's fur and around the blades of grass. It looks great!

Pooh, Eyore, Owl, Rabbit, and Christopher Robin are my all-time favorite characters. My daughter, now 32 years old, was enamored with Pooh as a young child. Oh what warm memories your post brings back to me. Thank you!

I'm a softy for George (my Kady likes him too!). Your hubs has gotten quite good with the camera, Kate. Mine wouldn't think to pick up a camera and leaves it entirely to me. You make a great team!

Hubby, you did a great job with the photos. It is very hard to throw the frisbee and then snap a photo. I try to do it with a tennis ball. You two do make a great team.
I have PS but do not use brushes or actions. That is next on my list to learn. Thanks for the link.
Have fun George.

Great photos and I love what you did to them color wise.

Trux is so uninterested in the frisbee. He's all about the BALL.

I got your e-mail, Kate. Thanks so much for caring. My dog Rocky has a frisbee too. He doesn't know how to catch it like George does. And if he does manage to catch it he runs off with it and chews it! It has lots of teeth marks! We fenced the front yard with a cute white pickett fence so he could not get to the road.He doesn't spend much time there tho, he wants to be where I am. He misses his "Dad". I got a treadmill so maybe both me and him could get some exercise, but he is scared of it and will have nothing to do with it. He likes to lay on the bed and watch me on it tho. Maybe in time I will be able to get him on it.Give George a pat and hug for me. Rocky would love to play with him. Doris

Tika killed her green frisbie the other day, we had to throw it out. So while at Petsmart buying dog food today they had frisbies on sale for 99 cents! I picked her up a red one. She had killed it before we were half way home.... And we don't live that far away from Petsmart.... Heelers seem to kill toys quite easily... and quickly... Give George a hug from Tika!

George is such a beauty. I'm impressed with your husband's coordination. I can snap Benny in mid jump, but someone else has to make him do it!

George is an amazing dog and you and your husband are a great team.
Winnie the Pooh has always been my favorite childhood story and characters.
glad George joined the parade.

Great pictures!! I love how the red frisbee stands out against the sepia.

I can never get good action shots of our dogs. Your husband must have a great camera or great reflexes or both!! ;-)

I love your dog. I'm not generally a dog person, but if I were to get one, I'd want one like George. And I love the new pic you have on your headliner with him.

Border Collies are the best!

When a friend apologized lately for being so upset at the loss of her 14-year old dog, claiming she knew that her Dachshund was "just a dog," I almost suggested an intervention. I adore Border Collies. Had one for ten years before losing her to what was likely a brain tumor. But she was an absolute sweetheart and the apple of my eye. Miss her terribly.

She and George would have loved to romp together. She was a stick girl, too! Do you mind if I put "got stick?" on my blog?

I'm new to your blog, Kate, but have really enjoyed every post since I started reading. I especially like anything to do with George as I've been a Collie/Sheltie owner all my life. I might have to try your technique with the frisbee shots as our Tuffy is a great frisbee handler too! I can tell Tuffy and George would be great friends but Tuffy doesn't have a Facebook page like George.

Hi Kate, I just found your blogs, which I love! George is totally adorable, and I do relate to the squirrel toy thing. I just bought my dogs (I have 3) a squirrel toy, and, while not a slingshot supersquirrel (?), and they love it so much they fight over it- apparently I need to get two more! We seem to have much in common; I'm an artist and photographer, dog lover (one is a border collie mix), and Photoshop learner. Please stop by my blog if you get a chance. I've got to go try that boost; thanks for the tip!
