My evening

I am sitting in my living room on my favorite chair and trying to answer the questions on Jeopardy tonight. I was on a roll for a little while, but it didn’t last.

We always eat dinner at exactly 6 PM. Always. My husband is the dinner maker and he’s got this thing about it being done precisely at 6. He doesn’t like me hovering in the kitchen when he’s in there, so I keep my distance and spend my time on the laptop, checking my mail, or playing around in Photoshop until it’s time for dinner.

(And yes, I know I am blessed to have dinner served to me every night.)

Tonight at 6:00, I closed my laptop and stood up to go out to the kitchen when I heard my phone ringing. I keep it in my purse, which hangs in the breakfast nook where we eat, so I dashed in there only to miss the call. And then I laughed out loud when I saw that the missed call was from my husband (who was sitting there chuckling).

I don’t even know why I told you that.

I took a walk in the snow after work today. It’s more of a workout in the snow with my big heavy boots. The sun was just setting as I was heading out and I realized I’d left the camera upstairs on the dresser after taking photos of Miss Blackie.

I felt it was just as well, because I already have a lot of sunset pictures.

I walked around the property and then got to this spot – the vantage point that you see above – and my mouth dropped. The sky was pink, with a layer of this beautiful cerulean blue along the horizon. And it just looked all kinds of pretty. And after wrestling with the decision for about 30 seconds, I began the walk back to the house to get the camera.

It was just too pretty to pass up.

And so is Miss Blackie. This is where I found her when I arrived home today. It’s one of her favorite afternoon spots in the wintertime. Our bedroom window gets all the wonderful late afternoon sunlight and has the added bonus of birds outside the window and at the feeders below.

Hope your Friday is a good one. Thanks for stopping by today --

That is a wonderful story...you know each other so well. Plus the dash of ornery keeps it from being boring!

I just read about your dog George, and that he came from Ellsworth, Maine! I actually know someone from there! Too funny, I just had to tell you. We also have friends that have three border collies, they are so smart!

Again, have a good one!

You are one lucky, or I prefer to use the word blessed, lady! ;) we get some of the best purple/blue/pink sunsets here, unfortunately my view is not as fabulous as yours!

I can't remember the last time I saw the words: cerulean blue! It was a very pretty pink sunset in my neck of the woods too. Don't you love that? And yes, oh you are so lucky to have dinner made for you each night!!! *sigh* I only dream...

I'm so glad you made the trek back for your camera! Oh my gosh the lighting in those photos is just fantastic!

As long as your husband was ringing the dinner bell, and not notifying you of an offensive step involving a watermelon plant, all is good.

If a watermelon was in any way, shape, or form involved in that cell phone call, I'm putting on hip boots and heading north.

I'm so glad you went back for the camera. Thank you for that. And for the story about your husband calling you on your cell. You crack me up when you say things like "I don’t even know why I told you that." You write so naturally and comfortably.

He called you? How funny. Hubby and I e-mail one another from across the house and then yell, "did you get my e-mail?" How crazy is THAT? LOL

I noticed the hues of blue and pink so pastel that I thought of baby's rooms.
My daughter and I text each other in the house so we don't have to yell or sometimes intercom the portable phones which works just as well. You are so blessed what a beautiful property and great husband and kitty you have.

oh my...that photo is beautiful! and calling or texting family members while you are all at home is completely allowable...even when your house is only 720 sq. ft...like mine.

These photographs are amazing! The softness of the colors with the stark white of the homestead is beautiful. I love the way the blue of the ski is reflecting off of the snow.

Blackie knows a good thing when he/she sees it...so thankful to be a member of your household. Whatta life!

Great weekend ahead! Hugs

PS: If it weren't for you and others, what would the birds do in this kind of weather for food? I really don't know...I've lived close to the Gulf of Mexico all my life and we just don't have these kind of winters down here???

The first ( and last) time Mr. Man made dinner he put confectioner's sugar in the tuna casserole.

Why? 'tis a mystery.

I second the need for a house tour. We're snoopy. I mean curious.

It looks like you had a bit of a jaunt to go back for the camera in that snow, but scenes like this are so worth it to capture. The look on your face when you realized it was your husband calling would have made a great picture too!xo ~Lili

That sunset is so worthy of going back to get your camera:) And it was captured so well...so many times what you see doesn't quite make it on to the camera...These shots are wonderful!

Mr O and I have dinner to the challenge of Jeopardy most nights....he gets many more than I do right!
