When a blogging friend wrote me this evening and asked if I were ok, I realized I hadn’t written a post since Saturday. I’ve had some stuff going on but as I like to say ~
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well.
Whatever that means.
Actually it means that {this too, will pass. And in the end, it will all be ok.}
This was a lucky shot taken from my chair through the kitchen window. A really lucky shot.
Not so lucky was losing the old widow’s walk which you can see lying in shreds on the top of the old manor house here.
John came and cleared it all today.
The trees are beginning to bud.
I love when that happens.
Dive bomb!!
Excuse me while I daintily eat my seeds.
I get such pleasure watching the birds. If anyone had told me twenty years ago that I would be doing this, I would have laughed at them. I just find the birds charming . . . and calming . . . and so very interesting.
Got my hair cut last night. Photos to come ~ if I am brave enough.

Looking forward to seeing the new doo, and I love watching the birds now too...go figure! Love your action shots, and the others too! I hope life sends you some tranquility soon.

I love your first shot, your lucky shot! Its nice to get those, kind of like an unexpected gift! Love to see some hair shots, I got mine cut and coloured today as well, maybe I will get a bit brave too!! Glad things are okay, I too wondered where you went.
Lovely bird photos, as always. But that "Dive bomb" is truly unique!
I got my hair cut this afternoon. I am NOT that brave.
A lucky, FABULOUS shot! I know what you mean, I never thought I would be a " birder" but they really are such interesting creatures. So sad about the widow's walk :(
The titmouse "on the wing" shot is one of my favorites of yours! They're all fabulous! I am so sorry about the widow's walk tho. Since you're a fellow bird-nerd, you might enjoy this video I made a couple weeks ago during one of our midwest blizzards ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WuQ09wX_h0
Happy Birding, and happy haircut! -Tammy
I wanna see!!!
Hey we all get busy with life ! Awesome photos ! Oh I hope the widows walk can be salvaged . The trees and bushes are budding here to despite the dusting of snow we got this morning but all has melted now thank goodness. I have always been a bird watcher and like you I love it to I to find them very interesting , soothing and quite comical . Thanks for sharing . Oh would love to see your new do ! Have a good evening !
Wow what great picture !!! Have a great evening
Beautiful shots of the birds. Glad you're getting the widows walk fixed.
I also would have laughed had someone told me I'd spend time looking at others photos of birds, much less take my own. Thank goodness we evolve. :)
You best be brave enough!
I got mine cut at Supercuts..... whatever..... it will grow back.....
Love the dive bomb and the "lucky" shot that took way more than just luck, i know....
Love your bird shots Kate, again, as I always do. Always amazing.
It is nice to be able to sit and observe as we get older, I think.
Thinking of you.
Wow! Your bird photos are incredible!
What happened to the widows walk? Wind?
Have a fabulous Friday! :-)

That's so true about birds when you're younger! I had no real interest at all but now prowl about with the camera or stand transfixed by the window. Great to hear from you Kate and I hope whatever's going on gets better. x
Of course you are brave enough, silly! :) Great captures, my friend. My heart is still breaking over the widow's walk. *sigh*
Spring is teasing us. Just heard winter temps are in store for us for the next week.
Hugs to you!
Oh how I ADORE a good lucky shot. You seem to consistently have them though, dear Kate. Perhaps not such a random thing! Show us your new do... be brave. And if you have a chance, check out the giveaway at my place (an awesome new Aussie novel not released in the US yet!)

did you go to hoity-toityville?
those are wonderful bird shots ..
Amazing photos as always. xo
Wonderful captures.
I tried to photograph the comet last night. with my little camera it probably just looks like a speck in the sky. will look at the pics later on today on the pc.
hope you perk up soon.
Great birdshots! Birding is something that can be done any time , any where--it's a great consolation.
that house is just so awesome. You can feel the history in the photo.
Expose yourself, woman! You might give the rest of us some bravery too :-) You have beautiful hair, you can't go wrong. I know you just said "HA!"...but it really is true.
luck or whatever.....i love your birds !!
and YES, let's see that hair and your adorable face :)
xoxo
Kate, YOU make birds charming and calming with the way you capture them so beautifully.
Hope all is well very soon.

I've had computer aversion for the last several days and haven't posted in a while...not that anyone seems to have noticed. Anyway, love your birds! That one shot made me want to shout "Geronimo!" *grin*
Hope you're well and happy. Everything will unfold, as it should, in the proper time.
Blessings,
Carolynn
I'm the queen of going "away" from my blog for periods of time!
Yes, you're right birdwatching is such an "old lady" thing that I never thought I'd be a bird lover either. Hmmm and I never thought I'd have my mother's hands either! Your photos are spectacular and elevate you beyond a normal Jane Hathaway birdwatcher anyway! :)
Yes it's time to get a glimpse of you on here again...please do show us Kate!! Oh and those birds, amazing captures and such beauty. They have such a purity to them. But oh so sad about the walk on the manor house. Perhaps the owners will have a restoration done. xoxo
Reeling from the conclave.
Not luck - patience and talent!! LOVE those wings!
And all of your birdies!
I got my hair cut this week too (and highlighted) and I feel like a new woman!!
Hi, I just stopped by to see some pretty colorful birds and you did not disappoint. Lovely. Too bad about the widow's walk. House is still beautiful. Enjoy the weekend.
Exquisite bird photos.
And yes, this too shall pass. At some point, usually not on our timetable, things improve. It's just about moving forward and looking ahead one day at a time and also appreciating the moment even if it isn't ideal.
Your photos, may I say, are ideal.
Love all your birds as always! Hope you show us your haircut. I need one really bad! Hope all has passed and t
You are headed into a relaxing weekend.
Xoxo
we used to sit and watch the birds with my great grandparents. They had a huge picture window in their kitchen and many feeders outside in Central Pa. BUT somewhere along the way, the allure was over taken with teenage "know it all" and eye rolls. If you had told my 18 year old self, that I would enjoy filling the feeders and spending time watching the birds, as well as a myriad of other things I enjoy, she would have run screaming from the room. Maturity is a wonderful thing. :)
Omigosh, that dive bomb photo is A-MAZING!
I miss having feeders close to the house... we're sort of worried about bears around here these days, which is crazy because there are 56 Toll Brothers houses across the street! Still, they have been spotted, along with coyotes. I'm looking forward to seeing the bluebirds and yellow finches in the park, and spotting a few other favorites around the yard... :)
Hope your weekend was wonderful!
xoxo
Love that dive bomber! Great catch!
The old house must feel naked without its widow's walk:( I hope they replace it.
Doesn't surprise me at all that anyone loves birdwatching:) Fun, relaxing, and practcally free:)
Omg..,that dive bomb cardinal!! Amazing !
