I pretended to be asleep when he came to my side of the bed. I don’t know whether or not it fooled him, but he quietly went away. He’s respectful enough to leave me alone when it looks like I’m still asleep.
Sometimes I open one eye and look at him just to mess with him (and to see his tail wag like crazy). Seeing that is actually a pretty good feeling – just knowing that someone is that happy knowing that I’m awake.
{Taken early this morning}
I don’t have any plans for the day other than a small list of things I can accomplish on one quick trip out into the world. I thought about cleaning but thankfully the feeling passed.
I’m watching a documentary called Chesapeake Bay by Air on Maryland Public Television. It’s showing the shoreline and sites like lighthouses, and cities like Baltimore and Annapolis. From the air, it’s so interesting seeing what the forces of nature do to the coastline. It’s a beautiful documentary.
I can hear my son playing the guitar upstairs. He taught himself and it sounds like he’s trying to work out another Led Zeppelin tune. He plays by ear and records it when he gets it right. He’s got a keyboard up there too, and one of my favorite things to do is listening to my son playing the piano.
He got a job working 3rd shift so he’ll probably be falling asleep in a bit. He has off tonight so I’m sure he’ll be gone most of the weekend, so I’ll enjoy the music while I can.
Here’s my Happy St. Patrick’s Day image for you ~
I took it from the kitchen window this morning.
Sometimes I sit there to drink my coffee.

So what are you up to this weekend?
Inquiring minds need to know.
I still can’t get enough of {this song}.
There's pain in whatever, we stumbled upon
If I never had met you, you couldn't have gone
But then I wouldn't have met you, we couldn't have been
I guess it all adds up, to joy in the end...

I just adore that photograph of pussy willow - ours it not out yet but it is usually out for Easter which falls in a fortnight, so it will have to hurry up.
Just mundane things.....maybe a trip to Modesto about 10 miles away to the Lowe's to buy a few more window blinds.....and a quick buzz around Hobby Lobby just because it gets my creative juices flowing.. :) Last weekend we went to Golden Gate Park in SF so this weekend we'll just hang around the house and thats nice too.
There is no joy like that of a dog showing their love for their person. We talked about going to the coast for a nice long walk and lunch. It's pretty foggy here this morning so we shall see.
What a sweet little one, Kate, and you have pussy willows!!!! I keep checking ours, but they are still in the bud stage. The very small, as in it will be a while, bud stage. :-(
Have a great weekend!
just back from the eastside and a fabulous massage ... a little shopping, i cant resist popping into the little boutiques on madison avenue ... a pair of leggings with zippers in the back of the lower leg was bought ... the st patricks day parade is tying up traffic and causing crosstowners to trek up to 86th to get across to the westside ... love those pussy willows, that adorable puffed up little bird .. and i am SO glad you didnt clean!

Thanks for sharing your day with us .Have a good day !
I haven't had a junco at my feeders this winter.
Nursing two sick foster kitties, one of which is only about 4 weeks old. Darn those nasty shelters with their virus ridden rooms & cages.
I love pussy willows. When I was a child, I filled one of my jewelry boxes with fuzzy catkins. I still have it.
Oh how I miss being woken up by a dog!
Celebrating my Irish heritage with my family tomorrow - corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots with whiskey cake for dessert.
A Happy St. Pat's Day to you and yours.
Love the eye peeping at George, that you enjoy the music upstairs, that you include birdies in your posts. What kind of sweet bird is this? Has a junco-like beak.
Our hillsides are frosted just now with wild lilac and lupine. We are off for a picnic in the remote back country. Springtime is really here.

Love the willows in bloom and of course, the junco. I share you enjoyment of listing to a son create music (albeit sometimes more loudly than I'd like). It's a true gift to enjoy.
This weekend, I'm back at Frank's. Tomorrow I'm joining his two sisters and my friend to celebrate yet another friend's 80+ birthday.
sweet, sweet images and your morning wake-up is perfect!!
What a beautiful post. I love the photo at the beginning.
i used to enjoy hearing my son playing guitar, he works away now..... and my border collie comes and sees me in bed in the morning too. Isn't it funny how animals will show respect and leave us sleeping?
I have enjoyed seeing Wales win the Rugby Grand Slam today on TV.
Beautiful photos! Good for your son teaching himself the guitar. I admire that! Not doing much this weekend. Dinner out with friends tonight and basically taking it easy otherwise. Life is good.
PS
The St Patrick's Day image is so beautiful, thank you!
Love those lyrics, oh boy, could I relate.
Lovely shades o'green there.
That is a lovely image for your St. Patrick's gift to your followers!
My week-end has begun with a UMW activity in a nearby town. Our Sunday most usually includes attending church. On this particular Sunday, we will return for a memorial service for the husband of a friend.
Hopefully the week-end will close with a festive meal of corned beef and cabbage.
Oh - and watching some SEC basketball on TV.
you have made me appreciate anew my morning pals, and made me MISS the EAST Coast (!) when I saw those Pussy Willows!!!

One of the things that I marvel at about my dog is how happy she is just to be alive. She's joyful and in a good mood no matter what's happening in her life, even when she's had surgery that left a scar extending from her bellybutton to her collarbone. Sometimes I watch her exuberance in the morning and am forced to check in with myself.
This weekend, I'll be beginning my redecorating project on our guest room. Lots of painting to start with.
Happy weekend!

A Glowing Ember
i love that song....
and i love that you and george play "who's awake in the morning"....even with one eye open, which is hilarious.
xo
Love the buds on that tree/bush. Spring really is just about here.
Sat through an entire day of basketball tournaments, post season, and am ready to collapse for the night and hopefully sleep late tomorrow.
I'm glad the urge to clean passed. It can definitely wait.
I do the same thing to my dog. But not the cat, because if he sees me peeking it's all over. I had the same feeling about the cleaning, and I was glad it passed me by, too. Maybe tomorrow. Or maybe not. :)
I love this post and photos...the whole thing makes me feel peaceful...thanks, I needed that.
Gorgeous images Kate!! I spent about 6 hours outside Saturday .... and it has refreshed my soul!
What a gorgeous image at the end just beautiful !! Hope you had a great weekend
Aw, love your little slate colored junco!
It was COLD on our walk today, but at least it wasn't snowing!
Happy St. Patrick's Day! xoxo
We are still in the deep freeze here in northern Illinois. Last year at this time we were in the
80's.
When I try to catch a few more winks in the morning my Sheltie likes to sigh. He may do it 5 or 6times before I giggle. Then it really time to get up!
Beautiful! Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Pussy Willows! The only ones I've seen here are in the stores and I love them:)
Love Josh Ritter too!
This will be a busy wekend for me...guests over on Saturday helping us clear some fallen trees from this winters storms and Sunday we are celebrating Charlie's first birthday in Cambridge. How does a year go by so quickly I want to know?
It's cold cold cold up here this a.m. .... 9 degrees with snow on its way. Was 70 this time last year! Thanks for introducing me to Josh Ritter! Like his music.
My Country always came to my side of the bed. She was a Momma's dog and I do miss her so much.
More so this weekend, because it was pretty and I was doing yard work. She was always my shadow and walked all over the yard with me.
I was in a sad mood when my hubby came in....but, he has that Redneck way of cheering me up.
