On the whole, my weekend was quiet (and damp). I made panko breaded chicken tenders and twice-baked potatoes on Saturday night with chocolate chip oatmeal crisps for dessert. Tonight, I served a small fryer chicken stuffed with lemon and rosemary, accompanied by root vegetables, and cornbread muffins. I would hesitate to agree with anyone who said I was a good cook; I am serviceable at best. But my son seems to think I am. I will say that it’s nice to be appreciated when you make something good.
It’s also nice when you don’t have to do the dishes. {Thank you, son}.
Otherwise, all was quiet. I appreciate the silence all the more these days.
All was silent as before -
All silent save the dripping rain.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
We found out the new squirrel-proof feeder wasn’t what it was cracked up to be.
It's not that I'm so smart,
it's just that I stay with problems longer.
~Albert Einstein
I enjoyed several cups of tea.
May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.
~Irish Blessing
And there was another lucky wing shot.
We do not remember days; we remember moments.
~Cesare Pavese
Hoping the week to come is good to you. I’m hoping it’s good for me, too.
Thanks for stopping by ~

Like always, I enjoy what you have to say. I've been a bit under the weather and thus, quiet, is my middle name.
Love your tea cup and the birds wings.
Cooking, I'd say you were a great one. Me, I can make a mean pasta. That's about it ... so, your family is very spoiled.
xo,
JC
Silence...it's a good thing. And that tea cup is beautiful. I believe any tea in that would be comforting. Hopes for a happy week!
An awesome picture of the wing of that bird!
It does sound as though you know how to come up with wonderful ideas in the kitchen. I'd say you are a better cook than you are giving yourself credit!
Lovely photos and thoughts, as always. Hope your week is a good one :) -Tammy
Lovely post, Kate.
that wet tree is just glorious and glad your weekend was a gentle one.
Loved all the pics and the well-matched quotes!

Me, too, for you...and me. Those glistening drops on the tree are glowingly beautiful.
Silence is golden... There is nothing like a nice quiet day in my mind:)
I think your cooking sound fantastic! I have been over eating all weekend and feel it right now:(
Love that rainy photo!
Love the tree in the rain Kate, and the cuppa looks good, what a lovely cup. Priceless.
Lovely to sit in the quiet sometimes. Sometimes it gets a bit too quiet occasionally.
Love the quotes, We don't remember days, only moments, True!
Cleaning and tidying the house to sell. ;-( Has to be done I guess. Sigh.
Love that your son is with you and you love listening to his music. Wonderful. That would be just wonderful.
Thinking of you Kate. I hope you all have a good week too!
Sounds like u had some great food and no dishes wow you got lucky !!!!!

Love the tree branch shot. Sounds like a nice, peaceful weekend. I love root vegetables but never prepare them. How do you do yours????

Your cooking sounds good to me...
lol, at that furry thief
I was so tired, after cleaning stalls yesterday I was hunched over!
Those meals sound brilliant to me. And that raindrops shot gladdens the heart.
Your meal sounds delicious, no matter what you say; I still have the recipe you sent me and I promise that one of these days I will try it out. :)
Love the photos as always as well; love that hummingbird shot. I can't think of a word adequate enough to describe what I think of it! It's beyond words. <3
There's a prediction of snow here for us here in NJ; I'm hoping it doesn't come of course. I am tired of waiting for spring! :(
Clear blue sky and still very cold here. Lots of snow on the ground - and a heavy storm in the forecast! What to do? Why thats easy - find the snow shovel and have a cuppa tea. (Grinning).
Little Red (the squirrel) stayed around all winter just to keep things exciting. Momma crow is back, ready to raise another brood. The Jays are demanding more food and the chickadees are beating them to it. ATB!
I love that rainy tree and I now want a cup of tea and one of your biscuits!
I love that dragonfly teacup, Kate. It makes a lovely photo.
Love, love the photos! So quiet and peaceful. The cookie looks delicious...would you be able to post the recipe? Have a great week.
...and may many of your moments be memorable.
I love a quiet weekend like that! Lovely images and thanks for sharing the quotes. Can your son come and do my dishes? Have a great week!
Kate, these are such wonderful photographs, especially the first and last ones.
I'm sure it won't make you feel any better, but I've never met a squirrel-proof bird feeder, and I do believe I've tried them all. :-)
I hope you've had a good day.
LOL...our squirrels tore apart our feeders like that in a nano second.....darn squirrels....LOL
That rain photo?
That, my friend, is GOLD.
