Welcome, September

Oh, how I have wanted September to finally come. I think this has been the summer of my discontent although I’ve tried hard not to complain about it. So let’s leave it at that.

I miss school, my co-workers, the children, and heck even the parents. Most of them, anyway. Ha. Plus, it’s been quite an adjustment from my busy, hectic days to the quiet, solemn ones of late. But they have not been bad. Not at all.

It’s so good just knowing that I’m where I need to be.

It’s been sticky and very warm lately and I ventured out to what’s left of the garden to take a few macro shots this afternoon. Then I came in and put on a pot of water to boil for tonight’s dinner of Buitoni ravioli with marinara sauce while I played with these few images in Photoshop.

I watched a cute movie this afternoon on Netflix stream called View from the Top. It’s camp and funny and I actually laughed out loud a couple of times at this 2003 feel-good flick. It stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Christina Applegate, Kelly Preston, Mike Myers, Rob Lowe, and one of my favorite guys, Mark Ruffalo and the cool thing is that they all look like they had a lot of fun making this film.

Besides the autumn poets sing,
A few prosaic days
A little this side of the snow
And that side of the haze.

Oh, it's a long, long while
From May to December
But the days grow short,
When you reach September.
When the autumn weather
Turn leaves to flame
One hasn't got time
For the waiting game.
Oh the days dwindle down
To a precious few . . .
September, November . . .
And these few precious days
I'll spend with you.

~ from September Song, Kurt Weill composer

And finally George, who says hello.

Hope your week is a pleasant one, my friends.

I am sending you many wishes for a special September ahead.

That is a really good cast in the movie. We will have to remember that one.

George - just as photogenic as ever!

Hugs to you, Kate.

Beautiful photos! I must admit, there is an air of anticipation when September hits; I love the sound of the crickets and the breezes (if there are any, right now we're also getting the hot and sticky stuff yet)... *sigh*

Tell George that my four-legged nephew Mylo the Papillon sends him a very happy hello! Mylo stayed with us this weekend and made so many friends with his charming and enthusiastic personality. ;)

Lovely, Kate.

It's good to know that you are where you need to be. It's a fleeting feeling for most of life (for me anyway) but when it is there.... It is good....

I liked View from the Top, too. Will have to re-watch. Mark Ruffalo is on my fantasy list..... Sigh....

George agrees, you're right where you need to be even if it must be strange not being there for the start of school.

Beautiful images and sentiments.

Fall is my favorite season. Don't know why but I get very nostalgic and nesty. The photos are awesome...I love morning glories. What a great love and companion you have in George as you and Andrew spend some time together with him. Have a wonderfully blessed week. Until we meet again!

You're a strong, sweet woman and wife, Kate---I know those kids at school are missing you as much as you are them. I know you're hanging in there with your usual calm!

Loved that photo of George---as always. I call him Mr. Personality. :)

Yes to september. Also a challenging summer here. Divorcing daughter moved home with a angery nine year old. Lots of tip toeing around each other but am seeing great hope. From you I take away courage and grace. I admire you.

George must be such a companion for you.
September always has a kind of sadness to it, doesn't it? We don;t want the summer to end and yet it is a beautiful month.

It has been a summer of discontent for me, too. And we are not alone.

Such pretty flowers!

Enjoy the relative peace and quiet. Enjoy this period of transition, as much as is possible.

Much love,

The song has always brought tears, even when I was very young. But I love September, and cooler weather.
Tho the song is about endings, September meant beginnings for those of us in education.

Photos-- -lovely misty water color memories........

George always makes me smile.
I can't have a dog because of my husband's allergies. I really miss them.

Love all the photos, like I usually do but the one of George is my favorite.

September is an odd month to me. The end of Summer but the beginning of a new. Leaves will fall, it'll get colder but still there will be days where you can enjoy the beauty of the yard around you.

George can still walk with you and play and remember the warmer days.

Hope this week is good to you.

Hi, I just love that movie "View From the Top". When I was a child I wanted to be an airline stewardess so I could wear one of those cool uniforms. I adored "Pan Am" for the short while it was on TV. Love all of your bokeh shots and that shrimp recipe sounds wonderful.

I have hardly read any blogs this summer, but I think of you and your husband often. I am so sorry things have come to this stage and I'm so happy you are able to be spending this time with him.
I can not begin to imagine what the two of you are going through, just know my thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep taking pictures, they're beautiful!

Ahh! These morning glories! Stunning!

I don't think you will ever regret being where you are...
