And the answer is always, “of course you should, you silly fool.” I mean, where else can I share my photography and my awesome jokes ( * snort * ) ?
And what in the world would I do in the evening if I didn’t write a post? Actually, I can think of a lot of things I could be doing, or that I should be doing – but still . . .
Often, when I’m feeling like this, I’ll get a comment or two that lifts me up from the doldrums I happen to be floating around in, and I get over it.
That happened today.
But yesterday, I received a rather unusual comment from a gentleman. And this gentleman presumes to know me and to know my husband as well, going so far as to call him by a name that very few ever do.
And the few that do go back a long way.
I cannot reply to this person and their profile is also blocked. Frankly, it’s been bothering me throughout the day. I would just like to know who this person is, and to thank them for their kind thoughts. Then I’m going to yell at them for making me fret all day long.
Nah. I won’t yell.
I would just like to know that this person is not an axe murderer.
If this person is you, and you own no axes of any sort, who are you?
And the fields of gold from the post title? This is one of my favorite versions.
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
Luv,

Oh, I know your feeling. It's such an odd and sometimes scary feeling to put ourselves out there {in the blog world} as we do, for all to see. When things pop up, such as they did for you yesterday...it makes you wonder about things. I've often felt this way when sharing my family's story from our dairy farm.....apparently, not all people love dairy or dairy farms! I hope you find your answer and I hope you continue to blog because I certainly enjoy your posts:)
I know, but I'll continue with the blog. On second thought though, maybe I don't want this mystery person to contact me . . .
The world can become surprisingly small with this lovely internet thingy and hopefully it will be a friendly world for you. :)
I had a weird and unsettling comment, now I moniture my comments.
OMG! NO dont stop blogging please I love your blog , photos, george and all that you write about, I would be sad. I think we all get to feeling this way about the blog sometimes but like you said who would you show all your wonderful photos to and tell your days to. I find that blogging is much like a journal that you want someone to read ! Have a great day, and dont worry about that person it may just be a honest person that has lost contact with you guys and now has found a way to reunite !
weird comments and stalkers are signs of a successful blog. don't cha know darlin'? i love that song too though i'm fond of sting myself.
keep on keepin' on honey.
Life is short, if we don't share ourselves with other like minded folks, what is there?
Do we risk being read by not so friendly folk?? Yes, probably.
Is it worth it?
I think so.
I always enjoy your images, especially of George. It looks like George had a relaxing vacation! I have often thought about having my own blog but then wondered how I would handle peoples comments? You will know whether or not to continue with your blog. Take care and have a great week.
It is a fine line between putting yourself out there and holding back in a blog as delightful as yours. I think you do a wonderful job. I hope the mystery is solved soon and does not turn out to be creepy:) Love ya!!
I do hope you keep blogging (and sharing those wonderful photos!). I think everyone who writes has doubts. It's natural for this type of art. I do really hope you continue to share with us!
Similar feelings sweep in and out of my mind, often, Kate - and with me, someone will offer a wonderful bite of encouragement or support at just the right time.
And, I step out a little more.
With each new step I venture, fear stings a little and webs entangle me a bit...until the trap is forced to break and I fly away in freedom again.
God is good. You share something here that so many of us find honest, comfort, fun and refreshing ♥
Continue on, dear Country Girl :)
I do love stopping by--hope you never give it up!
I hope the mystery man resolves itself, one way or the other. And you know you can't leave this crazy bloggy world, we would all miss you and your beautiful photographs far too much!
Kat :)
oh no.... you can't stop blogging... I just found you not too long ago! Thanks for putting yourself out there, sharing your awesome pics, and a piece of your life....
I am really sorry if my comments were unsettling to you, that was not my intentions at all. I was told about your blog by a good friend of the both of us from so many many years ago and I took a look. I meant everything I said earlier and I cannot tell you enough how very happy I am for you and your husband. I have thought about the two of you for many years and I just did not know how to reach out to you or how that would be taken if I did. I really do not want to be the reason for any unpleasant feelings and if this causes that then I am sorry and I will leave it at that. I think your Blog is awesome and I have always though that you were awesome. I did sign my name and do not go on line very often. If I am blocked it is because I do not know how to unblock myself . I do wish you both the very best and if you would rather I did not comment again I will leave it at that.
BTW I am not an axe murder but I thought in some small way a friend.
Alan
Of course you should keep on blogging. What would we do without you. I love Eva Cassidy. She died way too young.
I hope Alan tells you HOW he knows you.. we all want to know. ;)
as i read down the commemts, i had my comment running...then i read alans. i have told you, i read you just before i go to bed...i have had similar life happings...so! don't stop blogging!I need to read you every night! and you need to continue....so let's figure out alan.....and i need my sleep...

Oh, I love Eva so much! She had a unique voice.
Hope you find your mystery man soon--I'm sure he's not swinging an axe or anything.
Sometimes I think of not blogging..and I don't for a few days, sometimes weeks. I even completely wiped out my first blog--but came back "out" anyway. I would miss you if you stopped! How would I see the young Black and White??
I had never heard of Eva Cassidy. Thank you for introducing her to me.
Keep going with the blog Kate. This is about me of course, I always look forward to seeing what is happening at the Mansion on the Hill. Oh. His name is Alan. And he can't unblock his blog. Hope that settles any issues you might have about axe murderers.....

I think that all bloggers feel like this at some time in their blogging life. Whenever you have doubts about blogging and whether or not to keep going, just ask yourself who do you blog for? Yourself, your readers, your family, to show your photos to everyone as you explain them, to tell a tale? Are comments all that important or don't they matter to you? Keep blogging, its theraputic and a lasting story of your life and experiences.
I stumbled accross your blog about 2 months ago and it is one of my favourite places to visit on the net. I love the sense of peace and calm you have in your blog and I enjoy your wonderful photographs. I would miss it a lot if you stopped.
First things first , your photography skill is awesome. As about the gentleman who is bothering you I think he must be from your close circle of family/friends,given that he called your husband by a name that many few know. Someone from your circle of friends is may be just playing a prank with ya. Chill. Don't bother.

I struggle with the should I blog? Should I not blog? dilemma on a nearly daily basis. My soon to be ex is cyber stalking me and continuously thinks I am defaming him in nearly every blog post. Makes me start censoring what I write (even though it has absolutely nothing to do with him). But I blog for me and for those who might find what I ramble about amusing or helpful or inspiring. Don't stop blogging. I love your photos (and your karaoke ability but that's a whole other story) ;)
They can leave unsettling comments all they want, At least then it's out there for the entire world to see. Just so they don't come knocking on the front door or stepping foot on our property or following me around town. Those would definitely be unacceptable actions and cause for this girl to tote a can of mace and a small revolver in my big heavy purse that doubles as a weapon for banging over a stalkers head. Could always swing my camera at him too. I'm just full of helpful info, aren't I?

I really enjoy your blog (as you know, your blog is what inspired me to start mine!) so I hope that you will keep it up!
As for the people who read blogs then feel so inclined to make a mean comment, I say to them "don't bother reading my blog if you don't like what I have to say!" Phooey on them! I really enjoy this blogging world and the outlet that it provides to share stories and photos to people who are interested and will enjoy them. There are some really wonderful people in bloggerville! Although I have had someone try to tell what I can and cannot put on my own blog! Can you believe that? I ignored them!
I hope you get this settled with the commenter; I see that he has owned up! Good for him!
so i think you have found your guy, right ?
and you know you can't stop blogging anymore than i can....and if we ever do, we'll end up in the same institute with the same therapist....
now that could actually be kind of fun....
did you ever see 21 days with sandra bullock...it would be a little like the funny parts of that movie and in the end you'd probably find me with a dead plant and tears :)
xo
OMG - you guys are driving me to drink.
It was NOT a mean a comment!! It is someone from my past, that is all. Please stop thinking it was a mean comment. It just threw me, is all. The person is nice.

I love reading your blog and looking at your pictures. I think it gives us all another glimpse of this great big world we all live in. Sometimes we tend to be caught up in our own lives that we forget that there are other people who have struggles just like us. Sometimes we need to take a step back a B R E A T H.....
As much as I luv my blog, the internet still scares me.
Luv the pictures of George.
I love Sting, especially that song. Does the man in question live in NYC? Why else would he be an axe murderer?
Eva Cassidy's rendition is definitely my favorite. Hauntingly beautiful. Listen to it all the time. She is gone before her time...
I really hope you keep blogging - it is one of the best parts of my day!!!! I love all that you share with us from your stories to your pictures - parts of your life you give to us - a wonderful gift. Thank you. I too am in love with Eva Cassidy and so sad she is no longer gracing the earth with her voice. Thanks for everything! ~chris
Beautiful pictures of George. Fields of Gold by Eva is also one of my most favorites. YOU CAN'T stop blogging. You have so much talent! You are right up there with Pioneer Woman ... now you just have to write a book about George! :-)

I haven't known you for a long time yet and I am also fairly new to the blogging experience but I think many of us can relate to your insecurity. It *is* scary to 'put ourselves out there', so to say and we feed into our own expectations. How long will our thoughts linger in the blogosphere? What traces do we leave on the internet? These are all serious questions that require pondering.
Blogging demands of us that we take 100% ownership of the words we utter and that we utter them with caution and gentleness.
Even so, the internet would be a far less fun - and more importantly, a far less democratic - place without bloggers.
I love your blog and keep up the good work!
Blessings,
This Good Life
I love reading your posts, and the life you live. The way you capture the beauty of everyday is unique. I understand your feeling about the blog...but MY BLOG would not be the same without YOUR BLOG! My readers enjoy life from your part of the world. It's a gem! Keep it up!

I am always amazed at how you continually come up with great posts. It's such a gift to be able to share your day with your words and the way you blend your images to always create a special story, I love it! You are SO good Miss Kate. xo ~Lili
That is weird. But I am your favorite axe murderer. Remember?
you can't stop blogging, george would miss all his fans.
but i know what you mean, some days it is just one more thing to do.
and i love your jokes.
Oh, you know I love that Eva Cassidy song!
Please don't stop blogging! I know it's hard sometimes, but you really have so much talent and personality to share, and we would all miss you so much!
You are my blogging guru. :)
xoxo
Thought I would stop by and say how much I enjoy your blog. Love your photos, comments and stories. I look forward to reading your post each day. Your photography has inspired me as I attempt to take better photos.I do not comment on blogs very much because ...well, I don't always know what to say. Have a wonderful evening!
Di, thanks for your words. I don't know what to say sometimes either. So don't feel bad ~

I would be sorry to not have your blog to visit, its a tie to where I grew up and I think of that area fondly. I really admire your photography too. I so miss living in the country and havent figured out a way to get there yet.
Odd people are out there and I havent had any yet on my blog, its not as interesting and not that many people read it, and I dont have any ex's so I feel more anonomouse. (know thats not spelled right, wish blogger has spell check for comments!)
I hope you get it cleared up so you feel ok again, sending you hugs and reasurrance via the wires (or however). Take care and hug your puppy dog. Kate
I would not survive without the beauty you share with us daily.
