Whew – it feels as if I’ve been gone for weeks – but we’re finally home from Maine. It’s been a long day of driving and it was such a relief to arrive home again, safe and sound. After completely unpacking and putting everything away (it’s how we roll around here), then doing evening chores, which basically involve watering everything so it doesn’t die, it was time to dig into a fresh tomato sandwich.
We’re glad to have AC again because OMG, Maine was friggen HOT! Fortunately, our cottage was waterfront, and I swear, it was like sitting by air conditioning when the wind blew over that clear, cold water. (Well, most days it was).
We’ve come home to 100 degree temps, with humidity making it seem like 120. So tonight, we’re camping out in the air conditioned living room rather than sleep in the 92 degree bedroom.
God bless air conditioning.
I’m tired, and I haven’t gone through all of the photos we took but here are a few that I managed to dig up to share with you today.
I love these colorful little skiffs. This shot was taken in Sorrento Harbor when I went to visit Lili.
My husband took this just before 5 am one morning. He was sitting on the rocks in front of the cottage and used the 70-300mm lens.
My name is George. I like frisbee and fetch games. I like cool weather. I don’t like waves that crash on rocks. And small children freak me out.
We visited Bar Harbor early one morning.
And when I say early, I really mean it. My husband was up at 4:30 every day. That’s when the sky begins to get light up there. I think this photo was taken shortly after 7 am.
We had the place almost to ourselves, though. This was taken along the Shore Path.
Created in 1880, the Shore Path runs around the eastern perimeter of the town for about a mile.
The Gabriela Gale is the prettiest boat in the harbor, according to the manager of the Corea Lobster Co-Op where I went to pick up dinner one night.
Our cottage was located a couple of miles outside of town, along the coast.
And I’ll leave you with seagulls at Schoodic Point where the waves were crashing loud and the spray could be felt from where I stood (which was far away from the crashing, thank you).
Until tomorrow, my friends . . . a very tired

Sounds like a wonderful time ~ your images are gorgeous and how sweet you were able to meet up with Lili! Stay cool :-)
You arrived back in Blogville with some very nice photos. We have the same hot, hot, heat. Air conditioning is nice but it makes it so horrible to go outside. I worked in my garden about 45 minutes then my husband had to come sponge me up, carry me into the house and form me back into a solid.
nellie
you were missed too !
these photos are fantastic....love the first and last one soooooo much !
and yes, thank god for air conditioning !!
{but hey, it's not snow, so i'm being quiet}

Happy to hear you had a great trip! Did you honk when you drove by Old Orchard Beach?
FYI, it's still friggen hot in Maine!
Your pictues tell a tale of relaxing and enjoying each other's company. It is a tale of beauty of almost fairy tale proportion. Thanks for sharing that with me, I did need it, more than you know.
Glad your back .. missed you! Oh, so love the first and second pictures! Just incredible! Well, I love them all!
We're up to Maine the first week in September and I'm so wanting to go NOW!

Welcome home!!! And today I leave for Vegas. Yeah. 108 degree Vegas.
Welcome home! It looks like you had a lovely trip, great photos as always, I love the seagull shot.
Hope you manage to stay cool, it has been crazy out there, we came very close to 100 the other day which almost never happens up here.
Get your kiddie pool ready for action!
Welcome back. Hope you had a lovely and relaxing time in Maine. I'm sure we will be hearing and seeing more of your time there (I hope). Pretty photos, and your husband's shot of the water was beautiful. Sorry you had to come back to such "warm" weather. It has been 100+ temps here in Kansas for close to 30 days so far this year-and August is yet to come. Try to keep cool. Mickie :)
Sounds like a wonderful time. The pictures are beautiful. Makes me want to go there...to stay.
Welcome back1 Looking forward to hearing more from George - it's not in collies natures to have too much patience with small children - not unless they are calm and kind and slow moving. And waves that break on rocks and make big splashing sounds and spray!!! My dog is just the same. K x
Glad to hear (and see) that you had a beautiful trip. Each day you were gone there was a missing spot in my day not having your blog to visit!! Welcome back!!
Welcome back!
Love these and so glad you are home .. those seagulls are frame-able!
Fabulous photo's of our beautiful Northeast.....
I need to make my way to Bar Harbor again...soon...
Have been anxious for your return so we could all see your photos. So far... so good. :-)
And it was friggin' hot everywhere. We have at least another week of it here in our area. Just so tired of summer this year.

Welcome home...well sort of because our weather has been horrible so you might want to high tail it back to Maine! Your photos are gorgeous, especially that first shot of the skiffs! And I have to ask, if your husband rises at 4:30 am, what time does he go to bed each night?!
Kat :) *a girl who needs her sleep*
Had no idea Maine could get so HOT! Then to come home to HEAT--more heat, and humdity! Nice, huh! So glad you did.not.have.to.camp.
Can't imagine the getting up at 4:30AM hubby--but then, sometimes mine can sleep til after lunch-so, I think I'd rather have the early one. Well, you know, I mean MY husband--but early. ;) Of course, you've got a mighty handsome hubby there. :)
It's nice to have you home! I can feel your pain about the heat and humidity...I am so ready for cooler days down here! I knew you'd take some (many) awesome photos and cannot wait to see more. The photo of the seagulls is in the winner's column...amazing! Do tell the story about George and not liking the kids!
vacations wear me out! we just got back from ours, everything always happens when we go on vacations and this one was no exception.
Love the early morning shot your husband took. wish I was a morning person to enjoy such moments!
Hee hee I love that I already know "the rest of the story"!! And it tickles me to see the skiffs in the harbor knowing I was right there with you. Missing YOU Kate, but glad you're back home safe and sound too. ~Lili
Very nice images of a very pretty place. Welcome back. Richard from the Amish settlement of Lebanon,Pa.
Oh I know how exhausting that ride down 95 can be! I just drove it myself.... ugh.
Love the photos, especially the one your husband took. How nice of him to think to grab a photo of a sight you might miss! Can't wait to hear more about your trip.
Beautiful shots, love the skiffs and seagulls. Poor George, I hope he wasn't too traumatized. I want to go to Maine NOW!
Welcome home. I can't wait till we go to Bar Harbor in October to get some great shots like yours although mine won't be as awesome as your photography. Love them.
Ah! I love it all! I'm kind of stunned that Maine was HOT. I think we are the only place in the country that isn't, although we celebrated making it over 80 today. :)
Wonderful, delightful photos, Kate. So looking forward to lots more. – g
I'm jealous....fresh Maine lobster.
George you are a pretty boy, small children freak me out too!
So glad you are home safe and sound. It's been a nasty heat wave all up and down the East coast, but at least you were near the water. Love that last photo of the seagulls -- beautiful! xoxo
I have been going to Maine every summer for over 20 years and I don't think I have ever been there during a heat wave! Glad you had a nice trip...can't wait to see your pics!
I love the picture of the skiffs, they're so pretty!
It's great to have you back. Maine looks very pretty, I've heard so much about it, would love to visit some day.
