Three more days

I have three days to go until Christmas Break at our school. Three days until I enjoy two and a half weeks of down time. I am so glad, and it’s not because I don’t love my job. I really do enjoy what I do for a living . . . but it’s wonderful having off at the holidays. And for the past 15 years, I’ve held a job that has afforded me the ability to do this.

For this, I am blessed.

I think my husband will be glad to have me around.

I’ve gotten a little bit into turmeric tea lately. A friend tuned me into it, and when I looked up the numerous health benefits, I was sold. I bought this jar at Amazon.

Then I took a picture of an ornament that just happens to be a teapot.

Hello.

I have no idea why I am in this contorted-looking position.

Here’s a question for you ~

What are your favorite holiday movies? I just love them, and would like to compile a list to post on this blog.

Here’s a scene from one of my favorites, Love Actually:

I love Colin Firth.

And I love that you take the time to come here to visit.

Thanks for that.

Hope your day is a beautiful one ~

That tea sounds good. I like tea with some bite to it...like cinnamon. I found an old english teapot in a thrift store a few years back. I love to make tea in it.

The teapot with cups ornament is very cute.

Re: holiday films. I find the older I get, the less I watch the ones I've seen hundreds of times (Miracle on 34th St., It's a Wonderful Life, etc). I find I like movies for kids, like "Elf", and "The Polar Express." I think there are a few more, but I forget.

What a cute ornament that teapot is.. and a cute reflection in the red one.

A Christmas Story is my favourite holiday movie.

I love that adorable teapot ornament! We also have a teapot ornament on our tree; it's been in our family for ages but it doesn't look a thing like yours. Yours is much cuter with the two little cups and all.

My favorite holiday movie is "A Christmas Story," no doubt about it. I also like "Emmett Otter's Jug-Band Christmas," which if you don't know of it is a Jim Henson special that came out on HBO in 1977. I just love it!

i'm so happy that you love your job and that you have an amazing amount of christmas vacation....there are so many people who don't have either of those.

and now for that tea....i think i'll be researching that one :)

Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos, Kate.

I well-remember the anticipation of our "winter break," as it was called.:-) In our county, however, school is in session through NEXT week!

The tea sounds like something we might enjoy. Anytime is teatime.:-)

Our school goes til Dec. 21 this year! Bah humbug! We were out Dec. 16 or 17th last year--Who made this calendar? A male administrator for sure who doesn't have to do anything to get ready for Christmas! We are out til Jan. 7, but I'd much rather have the week before Christmas!
I love the newer version of Miracle on 34th St. and of course It's a Wonderful Life!

Holiday Inn is probably my mostest favorite :)

(and did you know that Kemmons Wilson - founder of Holiday Inn hotels - actually named his inns after he saw that movie one night :); did an interview with him for literary magazine back in high school :) )

Ooooh, I LOVE holiday movies!!! I'll try to keep my list down to a respectable amount...heehee.
In no particular order:

White Christmas
Holiday Inn
Scrooge (musical w/Albert Finney)
It's a Wonderful Life
The Santa Clause (first one)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966)
Miracle on 34th Street (1947)
Home Alone
A Charlie Brown Christmas

Okay, (Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town) I'll stop now....

As the art teacher, I am on break now until January 7, but regular classroom teachers work through next week. UGH!!

I watched It's A Wonderful Life last week for the first time in ages. I had to smile because of the dance scene where Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed fall into the gymnasium pool when someone retracted the floor. I learned to swim in that very pool -- brought back memories (not really the best, because I didn't really like to swim indoors that much!!)

My favorite oldie is still Miracle on 34th St. but I LOVE The Polar Express, too!!!

I love Colin Firth also, esp. in Pride and Prejudice.

I've never heard of turmeric tea. It almost sounds like the name of a band or a rapper.

Time off is good. Excellent even.

I shall try some tea.

Enjoy your holiday.

You get such a nice, long break. Around here they seem to be shortening them. I used to get two full weeks. Now they get only a week and a half.

I love Colin Firth, too!

My favorite holiday story/film/play is "Amahl and the Night Visitors."

I love that teapot ornament too! Just gorgeous. Now I think I have to find Love Actually and watch it - haven't seen it before. Thanks! Enjoy your time off! ~chris

I've been enjoying some Second Cup "Holiday Blend" tea - a gift from my sister-in-law.

I made my kids watch Oliver Twist last week, and it seemed to fix the "gimme"s. I should make myself watch "Grapes of Wrath" for the same reason ... but I'm too busy.

Enjoy your break!

I'm so glad you'll have that much time off! And that you have a job that you really enjoy...that means everything, too, doesn't it!

I'm not much into movies anymore --seems I can't concentrate on them as well as I used to. You know, I love the very first movie of A Christmas Carol--the original. I guess I don't get out enough! lol

I love these pics--I took one of a silver ball like you did the red last year--and it ended up looking completely like a clear glass ball...and my butt looked about as wide as the room in the reflection. It was kinda neat besides that part!! At least you still look very skinny--I'm hoping some of it was the pool table I was kneeling besiude in my son's basement!

Onbe of the things I miss from my teaching days is that wonderful end of term feeling - and the lovely end of term celebrations at Christmas too. Have a lovely one. I am afraid we rarely watch movies at Christmas, we usually have a house full of people and somebody will be playing Christmas music on the piano.

OH I LOVE LOVE LOVE that teapot ornament! My sissy would love that on her tree as she LOVES tea and teapots!

A Christmas Story - "you'll shoot your eye out kid". Cracks me up everytime I watch it. It also reminds me of my childhood. Enjoy the time off!

Hmm... Courage Mountain with a VERY young Charlie Sheen...way back when he still had a promising career...may even be his first movie. This one really is an obscure movie and you may not have heard of it....Its Heidi and Grandfather on the mountain and ends at Christmas time. Some wonderful actors accompany Charlie Sheen but i cannot remember their names but you will probably recognize them....

I like the GoodWitch TV movies with Catherine Bell. Not necessarily Christmas but some Christmas scenes.....

The Santa Clause movies and yes i even like the Grinch with Jim Carey

Then i revert to the classics...with Its a Wonderful Life topping the list then Rudolph and Frosty....and the list goes on...

Happy almost Holiday vacation to you and your family !!!

My son comes home on Saturday so that's when mine starts too.

Movies ~
Love Actually is fabulous for so many reasons.
It's a Wonderful life cause it's not the Holidays til you've watched that one. Lots of great memories for me.
The Family Man which is a sort of modern version of IAWL.
A Christmas Story cause who didn't want that special present for the Holidays.
And, many more ...

I can say that I have no favorite holiday movie... I'm such a bore.

My friend has been trying to get me to use tumeric.... That tea sounds interesting.

I have just finally gotten around to making sure I drink lemon water everyday.

Love Actually is one of my favourites too and is on here in South Australia tonight. Just set a reminder for myself so I don't miss it.

I really wouldn't mind getting off early this year. I work for a University and they think that they need to stay open even when the students are not here. At least I work for a good department and I do get a week off and a half off.

White Christmas
Miracle on 34th Street
Santa Claus

I might still be working if I didn't have a job that required me to work every other Christmas...and if I had Christmas off that meant I had to work Thanksgiving and New Years and Christmas eve and the day after Christmas...I had enough of it!

I still laugh out loud every time I watch Elf and A Christmas Story...and I swoon every time I watcch Love, Always...but the only movie I actually own is White Christmas...It was a must to watch it every year with my sister.

Never heard of tumeric tea! Is it as colorful as the spice?

Have a wonderful vacation!!

I envy you all that time off. I get two 4.5 day weekends, better than nothing, of course, but it's never enough. Enjoy it!

What wonderful photos! You've got me in the spirit now. I'll have downtime between Christmas and New Year's...cannot wait! Honestly, I sometimes have trouble during holidays...this was a pick-me-up!
