The trees are coming into leaf

I had forgotten I’d taken these images last weekend. I even edited them to get them ready for a post.

The grass is growing greener every day and the buds have burst forth on the the spring blooming trees and shrubs. The leaves on the trees are beginning to get that beautiful pale green color and the air smells fresh and sweet.

It is Spring at last.

The trees are coming into leaf
Like something almost being said;
The recent buds relax and spread,
Their greenness is a kind of grief.

Is it that they are born again
And we grow old? No, they die too,
Their yearly trick of looking new
Is written down in rings of grain.

Yet still the unresting castles thresh
In fullgrown thickness every May.
Last year is dead, they seem to say,
Begin afresh, afresh, afresh.

~ Philip Larkin

It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want — oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so! ~Mark Twain

The grass is even greener now than when this picture was taken. As I walked by a window early this evening and happened to glance out, the green was just stunning.

After this terribly long winter of brown and white, then more brown, the green is so pleasing to see.

I love the bokeh I get with this lens.

These were all taken with my 50 mm. I’ve been using it a lot lately.

A friend and co-worker who is retiring this year and moving away asked if she could give me her Adirondack chairs to remember her by. How wonderful ~

I will miss her a lot. But every time I see these chairs, I’ll be reminded of our friendship.

And with that I’ll say until tomorrow, my friends . . .

If it weren't for these storms, I'd be ecstatic because it's spring! Love the photos, especially the first one. I'm a country girl, myself.

Love the views there Kate. Our dog is finding grass to lay in as well to welcome the spring. What a wonderful gift with the chairs.

That is really nice of her to give you those chairs. Each year you ought to have your son take your photo and you can send it to her. With George by your side of course.

Enjoy Spring, I am.

JC

Adirondack chairs!! I love them and always think of them as particularly North American - a bit like apple pie...

One chair for you and one for George. How good is that?

Loving the chairs... I would set them down by our garden and watch it grow. The lettuce is up and talk about fever! I have lettuce fever.

I simply love this quote.

What a lovely and thoughtful gift. We're still getting snow here, if you can believe it!! I may have to stop browsing on-line for a while. All these images of spring elsewhere in the world are beginning to get to me. *sigh* Enjoy!

It's always sad when a friend moves away, but you have a wonderful reminder of your friendship.

The grass is getting greener here too, but I am not sure how. It is so cold! Guess it just knows that it's time! :-)

Have a great day, Kate.

Spring is starting to set in here in the High Country of Boone, NC! I feel like it keeps going back and forth as though the weather can't make up its mind!

We're going on two days of rain here! So ready for some sunshine!

Thank you for sharing!

Love that poem! and the photos of the fresh flowers.
Here is a verse from one of my favourite poems, you reminded me of it today

And for all this, nature is never spent;
There lives the dearest freshness deep down things;
And though the last lights off the black West went
Oh, morning, at the brown brink eastward, springs—
Because the Holy Ghost over the bent World broods with warm breast
and with ah! bright wings.

Wonderful Gerald Manley Hopkins!
