This morning

I woke early and got out of bed. I’ve had the plumbers and/or carpenters here since Monday and they arrive early. I mean 8:00 early. And there’s no way I want to be caught in bed, because what they are doing is the master bathroom in my bedroom. This bathroom has never been right, but there is going to be no complaining about it here because I’m thankful to be in this place. This particular bathroom has been out of commission for over two months since the water has been shut off due to a leak. So the entire bathroom has been gutted and today I am one day closer to having it finished.

I like to sit on the porch out front in the early morning while I have my coffee. It was warmer out there yesterday because of the sun, but today it’s hidden behind clouds.

Still beautiful, though.

And so peaceful.

George is ever hopeful that I will throw sticks to him. And when I say sticks, I mean tree limbs.

And I am not going to be throwing tree limbs.

(although my back is feeling much better this morning)

Sometimes I dream while I’m out here.

Everyone needs a dream to call their own.

And in case you begin to wonder why I rarely post photos of my cat, Miss Blackie, on this blog . . . well, it’s because she is one uncooperative puss. I was sitting quietly, sipping my delicious cup of 8 O’Clock coffee, and she was sitting quietly on the top step. I know this cat, though. And I knew that as soon as I reached for the camera, she would be off. What her aversion to it is, I do not know. But I am a bird photographer. And I know how to move slowly while sitting still, yet . . .

She up and left anyway. Hence the blurry shot of her scampering down the steps.

In the spring, I swear . . . I am renting a spray washer and cleaning these brick steps.

And she plops down on the bottom step with her back to me.

I am under my blanket and in a coat. I have on a scarf and my fingerless gloves.

George is a natural poser.

He doesn’t seem to mind the camera at all.

Seems to enjoy it, actually.

And life is good.

Last night, I made {these pork chops} and served them with mashed potatoes, and steamed carrots & peas. They are super duper simple to make. My son ate three of them, he liked them so much. They really are quite delicious.

I have one more adjustment (this morning) at the chiropractor. It has really been helping.

My goal for the weekend is to get {my etsy site} updated. I don’t really have a lot of items for sale anymore and it could really use a bit more. After I do this, I plan to host a giveaway of one of my prints. It’s the least I can do to thank you for your continued visits and your support. So look for that to come ~

Until next time, my friends . . .

You do live in one gorgeous place, and I love that you are all bundled up and under a quilt sitting on your porch. :) I have followed your blogs for ages (literally, years now) and never comment but you have been a daily 'stop' for me---I love your style of writing and I dearly love George. :) From one country girl to another...Happy New Year, my friend.

Wow.. that last picture of George looks so intelligent. I swear he is practically human!

Glad your back is feeling better, it is so hard to do anything with a sore back.

Happy 2015! I hope it brings you happiness and peace.

Oh, that George is beautiful. I have a cat that does the same thing; my Audrey. I'm lucky to capture a photo before she high-tails it out of viewing range. Deb

Oh my that George is a handsome dude! I miss having a cat, I love their independent spirit.

I have had issues with two of my bathrooms recently. The toilet overflowed upstairs an hour before a showing. I am so over having people wanting to see the house during the holidays. Water came through the ceiling to the lower level. Ugh! Then on Christmas Day the faucet in the guest bath decided to explode. What a mess with a house full of people.

Thanks for the pork chop recipe. Looks delicious!

Happy New Year!

George is so funny. I wish Snippet would pose like that. Happy new year to you. You're sounding very positive and that's lovely to hear. Haven't checked in for a while so I apologise. Happy new year to you. x

I agree that George has a human air about him here. All missing is a pipe and tweed jacket. :p

George certainly poses to perfection does't he?

Such a lovely spot to enjoy a cup of coffee. I'm sure you will get a picture of the cat one of these days, but George is so handsome!

It's so good to cross things off one's list - especially if someone else is doing the heavy labour. ;o)
We had a springlike day yesterday which was a real treat. We're bracing for a severe drop in temperatures tonite and for the next several days.

George is positively working the camera! lol.

Blessings,

Will you email me about your etsy shop? I'd like to know how you set it up. One of my frequent readers has commented that she would buy a coffee table book of my UP photos, but I'm not sure I'd like to go to that extreme.

I'm sure it will be worth the wait once you get your new bathroom.
Love that third picture of George. : )

So glad your back is feeling better, and glad to hear the bathroom is well on its way to being functional again. George is a natural poser, and a handsome one at that.

Have a great weekend!

Whenever I point my camera at OUR cat, she immediately starts walking/trotting towards me, which makes it just as difficult to get a good shot!

Although I've read each of your posts since you were "out of country", I haven't commented! What's up with that?! Lazy...and my cataract is really getting bad--but I love seeing what you are up to and hearing about it just as much.

I love the little quilt or blanket under which you are wrapped--with Miss Blackie, in a blur, sitting below. Again, it reminds me of some of the paintings Wyeth used to do---some things so bright and right there, and the other part so--foggy, blurry, almost not there--but still---SO there! Good lord, that was some sentence. I'm sure they'll be committing me very soon! LOL

The last picture of George!! What a ham. I do believe he knows he's featured on a famous blog!!
Happy New Year, Kate!

Fabulous shots. I always enjoy the fleeing Ms. Blackie. Of course, G is a handsome guy. Two weeks w/o my computer is a bit too long. Al fixed now. Hope your back gets nothing but better.

Hello, dear Kate, I, too, need to get caught up on what happened with your back, but I'm very glad that you are on the mend and also getting a new bathroom. :)

My husband gave me a sideways look when I told him I was now following a dog on Instagram but I said it wasn't just a dog, it was GEORGE. :)

Sending wishes for a wonderful first week of the year. xo

I'm not a pork chop fan but I might give this a go, because my husband wishes it were so.

Oh that sweet time in the morning, that first cup of coffee, isn't it just the best.. I just love it, and if I can fit in a quick crossword puzzle, all the better. Here's wishing you all the best for 2015 Kath.

For some people, waking up at 8 in the morning is difficult. But if there are contractors and plumbers that were scheduled to come, you might as well get up and start work, right? If you and the contractors are able to maintain this routine, there’s no doubt that your master bathroom will be finished in no time. And speaking of which, how’s the progress so far?
