Hand-colored flowers

While perusing photos on flickr this afternoon, I came across some that I absolutely fell in love with. Using hand-coloring of black & white photographs, the [photographer] had an ethereal couple of sets of these painted works of art and I had no idea how she accomplished this feat. But I was in love with her photos.

So I googled a tutorial and found several, but I wanted one with a video. Although I followed the instructions to a ‘T’, I am not satisfied with my results. But it’s only a first attempt, and like the textures when I first discovered them, I’ll figure it out eventually.

The [tutorial] here, offers instruction in one way of hand-coloring a black & white photograph. After I got the photo to my satisfaction, I applied three Florabella textures, ‘antique’ warm, ‘sugar & spice’ and ‘milk & honey’. And then because I felt like going full-on crazy, I applied some brushes that I downloaded yesterday.

I’m not sure about the brushes yet. I’m looking for something much better than this but got tired of the search.

Here’s the photo without the embellishments (brushes). I think I like this better.

In other news, I finally managed to vacuum the upstairs. I know you’ll be proud of me.
