Musings in the middle of the night

Sorry I haven’t posted lately. As I write this, it’s 2 AM Saturday and I can’t get to sleep. My husband and I returned home about an hour ago from a wedding that was held at the Knowlton Mansion in Philadelphia. It was really beautiful.

The wedding itself was a little different. It was a very posh affair, but also a little irreverent (which was fun) and then when the rings were being exchanged, the groom gave the bride a gigantic fake bauble that made everyone laugh and then proceeded to have a ring tattooed on his finger during the ceremony.

I kid you not.

He called his tattoo guru up to the front, and as the wedding videographer recorded it, we all heard the whir of the tattoo needle begin. And I thought “this is different”.

The food was fantastic, and we didn’t actually eat dinner until around 10 pm. It was raining the whole way there and the whole way home. In fact, it rained all day. Poured like crazy. I hear that rain is good luck for a wedding.

This picture has absolutely nothing to do with anything and it’s not that wonderful to begin with. But who cares?!! I don’t!!

I always love reading your answers to the questions I post on my blog and the most recent one was great. Thanks to everyone for playing along.

As I write this, I’m sitting on my loveseat wrapped in my husband’s down sleeping bag. It’s just a little chilly, but the seat is also wet from a certain dog who was let out when we came home. He ran all around the yard looking for God only knows what and then must have come in and jumped on my favorite seat, sopping it up with wet puppy fur. I just want to say thank you, George.

And good night all.

Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

That certainly must have been a strange wedding. LOL. But a ring tattoed on his finger must be very special. Of course the bride knew?
Have a nice day.

A tattoo ring would be a first for me. Did it take long?

Well, he'll never lose it.

Tatoos can be removed now! May their humor take them through the rough times.

That's SO cool!!! I love it. I am glad you both had a wonderful time.

What's wrong with the photo? I love them. I love that special pumpkin vine and the gourds it will produce. They are beautiful!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Wow, that is different! I thought ladies removing their sandals and making one with the mud at our wedding a few weeks ago was weird but I guess only slightly. : )

...and glad to hear rain is a good sign, because we had lots of it!

Be well. ~Andrea~

Well that has to be a first - tatooed during your wedding vows!!
If I were a guest, I would have preferred he do it on his own time, but that's just me. It seems everyone is searching for some way to stand out or have a wedding that is not like anyone elses'.

Hope you finally got some sleep. Have a good weekend.

Good grief, it is 8:30 in the morning and I am the 8th comment. You have very faithful readers, Kate! The wedding sounds... interesting, lol! Personalized. (Our son just got married and his brother was best man. When the minister opened the box with the rings, there were two large, chunky candy rings! But the real ones were there too). I was going to answer your questions from the other day. The only two I can remember are the food one (naturally!) which would have to be spaghetti, meatballs and garlic bread, all made from scratch by me (bows modestly), and the one about what bugs me online. It is the fact that I can't seem to stay away from this fascinating computer! Or is that my favorite thing?

All I can think of is "Ouch," and "What did his mother think?"

LOL well, that was different - I like the joke about the fake ring but it's a bit much to make the attendees to sit through a tattoo I think.

Gah! I slept until 10! Unheard of in my world. I'll be discombobulated all day now.

I want to explain about the tattoo. I did hear that he had most of it done prior. The little heart in the center was what was done at the ceremony. It took all of about 5 minutes. The bride knew. I'm looking on YouTube now.

Having a wedding ring tattoed on sounds a bit strange to me, but that's coming from someone who also thinks it's odd to eat supper at 10 at night, so pay this no mind.

I would so have had a tatoo ring when I got married if I knew about such things then...or maybe I would have just had Mr O get one...
