My husband surprised me with a Sony Handycam for Christmas. I was truly shocked, as we’d both agreed that we weren’t buying for one another again this year.
We’ve been trying to get the hang of it and it’s just so different from using a camera. Today when I came home from work, he told me he had recorded some birds at the feeder and he wanted me to download them so he could watch the movies he made. He had set the camcorder up on our little tripod outside on the picnic table and caught some wonderful birdy action, however the recorder ran for 15 minutes and the action is few and far between. I’ve been trying to figure out how to splice all the emptiness out of the loop, to no avail. I finally just gave up and went back to watching the wonderful old BBC series, All Creatures Great and Small which is available instantly on Netflix.
In the meantime, I discovered a 10 second clip that I don’t even remember recording. I have no idea where we’re going here, but George does love a good ride in the car. (And rockin’ music so turn your speakers down a bit).
This is all I have for you today, my friends.
Ten seconds of a dog riding in a car. It’s why I have the disclaimer on my blog header that warns you not to get too excited.
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

Bless you for the tip in tiny font...:>}} and I'm thankful for the forgiveness for my, ah hem, outbursts.
Happy recording times!
I actually laughed out loud. No, I'm still laughing. Dora will be so jealous!
I know. It's still cracking me up for some reason. Seriously. I need help.
Are you using a Mac or Windows?
George = Ham. That's all I can say.
Ha!
Windows, JackDaddy.

I'll be holding my breath for more! LOL Come say hi :D
You can use Windows Movie Maker to do the editing, which you may already have on your computer, or there are lots of other free editing programs that you can get from online.
Of course, you probably already know about all this! :)
Thanks, JackDaddy. No, I didn't know all of this. I usually end up googling things. The camcorder came with a disk that I thought had a photo editing program on it.
Thanks!

The window wasn't open...how can the George have a good ride in the car with the windows closed???? Think you need to take another ride, open the window, and film again please....I'll wait...
JackDaddy is right, Windows Movie Maker will do what you are wanting to do. It is free, but it may NOT be on your computer. With some of the newer iterations of Windows they have left it out. It is still free, but you have to go to their website and download it. They say it is so it is easier to keep it upgraded. *shrug* Whatev!
If you find that you start going beyond what WMM will do for you, but aren't ready to dish out a huge amount of money, there is a program called Premiere Elements. It is by the same set of people (Adobe) doing Photoshop Elements. It is the consumer version of their software for 'movie making'. In fact, it often comes bundled w/Elements. That's how I ended up with it. ;p
I presume you have entered it for the Cannes Film Festival. It would beat some of the recent winners!
I must say Kate - he sits there like a little Lord, lapping it all up.
All I can say is George Clooney had better watch out...
:)
Have a great weekend, Kate!
I like you.
This video still cracks me up. Thanks Astaryth. I do have Movie Maker but will also check out the elements offering.
We have a snow day, which is ridiculous to waste on an inch of snow. However, it's good for photos.

I showed Bailey, my dog, this video! He wants to go for a ride, too!
And what is that green stuff I see? Could it be ... grass??!
Here in the land of snow and cold, grass is a distant memory!
No just any car. Dog riding in a honda element!
Aww George travels so quietly. One day I'll have to find a video of Benny traveling in the car. He never shuts up. Beautiful pup, that George. :)
I agree with Amy....George needs an open window. I long to see him with the wind blowing through his hair.
LIOLOLOL. I had to come back for another dose!
You know you have a friend who is a video editor .. ToonMan .. and I am sure he will be able to tell you how to edit your new videos!
Well done. George seems to be enjoying the ride & the music, both. I'm looking forward to seeing more cinematic works of art. Look out Spielberg!
was it just me or where you traveling at light speed?
I was just thinking what would be even funnier....George bobbing his head to the beat of the tunes! :)
you totally crack me up....love your sense of humor !
He is such a cutie. Love your dog. Good luck with that great gift. Jeanne
...I never could figure out how to edit movies either...but I do have a daughter who did it for a job for awhile so if you need help let me know and I'll see if I can connect to two of you:)...
Aren't you just in love with Sigfried and Tristan?
Oh!...and it was fun to see George in "action"...
Doesn't matter where you're going; George is happy!
LOL yay George!
Serious stuff...just ask George...smiles.
I can't make it open.
I know it's cold, but if I were George I would soooooo want my head out the window....
