I came home the other day to photos on the camera disk that I hadn’t taken. I always love when my husband takes pictures because I enjoy seeing his viewpoint from behind the camera lens. If he knew I was posting this, he would probably be angry with me.
So let’s not tell him, ok?
When my husband bought me this camera in 2007, he rarely used it. And when he did, he never changed lenses, or camera settings.
He used the macro lens for this shot, and I just really like it. I like the composition, the colors, the DOF. I also like that the wood is two different colors. But the best part is that my husband actually uses these clothespins. He does the laundry and hangs it out on the line when it’s good weather.
Imagine, if you will, how wonderful it would be to have someone do your laundry. You come home to folded clothes, dinner simmering on the stove and the house filled with wonderful scents, and today the kitchen floor was swept.
This is what I come home to nearly every night.
And I can tell him until I’m blue in the face, but every day I come home to him is another day I have him with me.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
Oh, and it looks like we need some crazy glue. And normal stuff.
I love normal stuff . . .

~~Love Hugs and Good Thoughts~~
Laundry is my favorite chore to do. But I would love to come home to a neat and clean home. :)
Wishing you many more years of normal stuff. :)
Your husband sounds like a wonderful man. I'm so glad that you have him.

You are wise.
Every night when I look at my husband sleeping next to me I thank God that I've had one more day with him.
And I love the normal stuff too...it's comforting.

Now, my day is complete.
Thank you, Kate.
Give the man a studio; he's an artist! It really is an exhibition-worthy photo. And he sounds like a trophy husband, in spite of the occasional warts. :-)
Love his photo!!
I see that jigsaw puzzle...I love them!! Another addiction just a step less than milk glass.
I loved your post today...just everyday life & thoughts!
My husband is also retired and I love coming home after work to freshly baked bread, dinner cooking on the stove and laundry hanging up to dry. My husband is happy being retired and I am happy for him.
What tj said.
Also, that's a great shot of the clothespin.
But mainly what tj said.
I will have to whisper this...Love the clothes pin pic:)
...I hope men appreciate coming home to clean laundry and swept floors as much as women do! Thank God for the everyday things!
I don't know, that sure looks like a recipe to me! You may want to check your food for the next couple of days in case it REALLY sticks to your ribs! :)
Thanks for sharing your husband's photos- I promise not to tell him you showed us!! I love the simplicity of each photo and yet they make you curious or tell a story..the last photo there was so much for the eye to look at and it was such an interesting angle for the photo of a table top to be taken-
Maybe you should suggest your husband start his own photography blog (less words more pics) He could call it The HandyMan's World...hahahaha...
Ah for good old wooden clothes pegs. We seem to have degenerated into plastic ones in the UK and I cannot find wooden ones for love nor money. So top marks to him for a good photo and one that brought back memories.
Wonderful post, the normal things..so underappreciated much of the time. Good for you :-)
I think that those little things are what we will remember. Those are the things we should cherish. And the kindness and caring of those people in our lives, that is what matters most of all.
What a lovely post, Kate! Normal stuff is what I love the most as well. Rain on the roof. The smell of fresh bread. Clean sheets. The phone calls from my husband. When he calls me Sweetie or Baby Cakes. Yes, simple things are the best.
Normal stuff. What a blessing!
great photo by your hubby...isn't it great when they show an interest in what you like...you are super lucky to have a guy like that...my hubby loves to cook...he cooks dinner most of the time...he will even do the dishes...
I do not have to worry about ToonMan using my new camera, he still cant figure out the last one .. but he does the laundry, he doesnt fold everything just the towels and he lays things on the bed for me to fold .. and put away .. he doesnt clean unless he has a client coming over ....
Wow. What a great guy you have there and I LOVE the clothespin photograph. I do!
I actually like doing laundry. I like hearing the washing machine humming away and the smell of clean linens. It gives me a cozy, homey, feeling of accomplishment.
It is great to see what others see behind the camera. I love it when my DH takes pictures so I can see his view.
So, so sweet. And don't forget the razor blades, either;)
((hugs)) and you know why.
i love normal stuff too. i also love another days.
Well, this post is all kinds of wonderful!
Love the normal stuff! He has a good eye, your hub. What kind of ice cream did you get? ;)
Count your many blessings.

I am sure there could be a photo theme around clothes pegs....
And yes, I read the note. Anything written and left in view, I read it. I see there is a cooking pan on the list for bangers and mash. Could I come over for a meal when they are on the menu, please??
Ms Soup
A cottage small is all I'm after,
Not one that's spacious and wide.
A house that rings with joy and laughter
And the ones you love inside.
Some like the high road, I like the low road,
Free from the care and strife.
Sounds corny and seedy, but yes, indeed-y;
Give me the simple life.
...and that's all I have to say...
What a sweet post. I totally agree about another day with him. I think about this often. Cherish the love and companionship while it's here!
gosh...I love normal, too....the best of all !
the clothes pin photo is magnificant!!!
and you are a very lucky lady, my dear.
