The fields are snowbound no longer

I have a poem to share with you today. It’s such an accurate description of our weather in early spring. You can almost feel the warmth of the sun as it tiptoes through the chilly forest.

Very Early Spring

The fields are snowbound no longer;
There are little blue lakes and flags of tenderest green.
The snow has been caught up into the sky--
So many white clouds--and the blue of the sky is cold.
Now the sun walks in the forest,
He touches the bows and stems with his golden fingers;
They shiver, and wake from slumber.
Over the barren branches he shakes his yellow curls.
Yet is the forest full of the sound of tears....
A wind dances over the fields.
Shrill and clear the sound of her waking laughter,
Yet the little blue lakes tremble
And the flags of tenderest green bend and quiver.

Katherine Mansfield

I picked these grape hyacinths for you, as well.

I just want to thank you for being there. Having this blog has been therapeutic ~ and meeting you, if only on the internet, has been a blessing.

Have a wonderful weekend, all. As for me, I’m going back up north to visit my sweet sister, Charlotte, who has just gotten out of the hospital (again). She’s doing well now, but it was touch and go for awhile.

Here she is wearing my Carhart vest when I went to see her two Saturdays ago.

I haven't been online so much lately. Mama passed away Mar.30th and I was at the hospital long days and nights with her. But some nights, I've come and checked to see what you've photographed and written---never been disappointed, either. It's always peaceful, and beautiful here at the Manor house--I am glad your sister is better now.

Gorgeous photos! Your photography improves every day. Like someone above said, coming to your blog is peaceful, like a visit to a beautiful park with good friends. I think I'd like to come visit you! My nephew has an internship at CBS in DC, and maybe I just will drop in to the area this spring. :-)
