Searching

I had the camera with me when I left for work this morning, and snapped this photo while I was heading down the driveway – looking back at the house.

My husband and George were up at the house, and they were waving goodbye.

I thought it might be nice to stop and take photos along the way to school, to share the beauty of some of the early spring flowering trees I pass along the way.

Unfortunately, there was nowhere to pull over until I got to the school driveway where I could see the sparkles of the brick peeking through the trees. When I first saw this school, in 1996 when I brought my sons here for the first time, I was enchanted with the brick face of the building. I’ll have to show it to you up close one day. The clay bricks are interspersed with ones that actually shimmer in the light of the sun. I’m not sure what sort of process was used on them, but the glaze reflects the light and this is what I could see sparkling through the trees this morning, in the photo below.

I’m also fooling around with yet another watermark. I just can’t make up my mind, and really - I shouldn’t have to because I can have as many watermarks as I want.

I read something today that really hit home.

You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection. —Buddha

I really needed to read this today. I’ve been feeling lately that I’m not good enough. Not a good enough friend, co-worker, sister, wife, mother, daughter-in-law, dog owner - you name it. And reading the quote made me realize that I’m not so bad.

And I don’t give myself enough credit for the good things.

Today, my husband took the covers off of the mini greenhouses in the garden, showing all the beautiful lettuce that’s been growing underneath. To the right of the lettuce is a row of peas.

I love peas.

I love these free actions from Nelly Nero, too. For several of the photos on this post, I used her Woodstock action. It’s really groovy, man.

Sometimes when I get stressed out at work, I think about what it would feel like to be home, taking a walk with my hiking poles, my trusty pup at my side.

And I feel better. Less stressed.

I want to say this bud’s for you here, but that would be so cliché, don’t you think?

Just finished watching Survivor, and now the Singing Survivor Show continues. Scotty is just downright fantastic. And Matty on Survivor has me shaking my head, wondering what the heck he was thinking.

Have a great Thursday, all. Spring is in the air here and I’m so glad of it.

Love your photos, even though that sounds cliche! And love that quote too! I've been feeling not quite good enough lately either, still worrying about more than I should, so thank you and Buddha for the reminder!

I know how you feel - having one of those days myself today. Has to do with lack of quality sleep (for me) and all-round bad attitude!

Does blogging act as therapy for you (it does for me!).

You need to watch this every morning before you leave the house to go to work... and twice on week-end mornings! And that's an order young lady.

lovely quote. sometimes we need to let that sink into our own critical brains so it can hopefully trickle down to our heart...

When I read the title of your blog, Searching, all I could think of was "for the meaning of life." Then I read your blog and thought, that is what you are searching for...search no further, you are so desevering of what you have, who you are and those around you.

Oh Kate - I have those same struggles! Always thinking I am not good enough. But sometimes I just have to say - I am what I am - and that's all I am - sometimes it just HAS to be good enough because that's all there is. (does that make sense?)

Anyways - I think you are wonderful :)

And I LOVE your pics!

And I think your hubby's garden is growing FAST! - WOWZA!

And (I know you alredy know this)
I LOVE George :)

I have that Buddha quote among my collection, as well. It's a good one.

You live and work in such an idyllic place. I yearn for something similar, on a smaller scale. Intimate and cozy, in the country, with no neighours in sight. My idea of heaven.

I have a lot of those same feeling lately, maybe it's from being unemployed . . . Thank you for the quote, it was inspirational, and your photos are stunning!

Oh, I love those shots of the budding trees -- so beautiful! And wow, your husband's garden looks fantastic! And I am glad that you found that quotation, because you are AWESOME!

i love that quote. i have written it in my little book to always remember.

i'm glad pia went home - talented but i think the age of the diva has passed. that's why so many of the women get sent home. i'm loving scotty and james. i dig paul too...but i think that is because of his pretty smile.

Kate, I have been on spring break this week....just loving being at home..and watching everything bloom. I have not traveled (going to the beach at the end of May) but now that I have been on the Country Girl tour, I can say that I went to a house in the Maryland countryside! Purely beautiful!

Oh I'm so jealous of your early garden. I love peas too. I have been known to order 2 sides of peas when we eat out. Hate to see the rough days get you down Kate, I think you're pretty spectacular myself. xo ~Lili
