I took a nice long walk around the property afterward, though and snapped a couple of photos that I’m sharing here. Nothing much, just a beautiful spring day here in Maryland.
There’s so much going on in this world right now. It feels good to have somewhere safe to enjoy the afternoon.
We are blessed to be here.
I picked some violets for you.

Look at us, said the violets blooming at her feet, all last winter we slept in the seeming death but at the right time God awakened us, and here we are to comfort you.

My husband has worn two paths around the property. One, he calls the ‘outer loop’. This is the one that circles the entire perimeter. The other, he calls the ‘inner loop’. This is the path that cuts across the property in a loop and which takes you through this field full of buttercups.

I remember being in about 6th grade when that show came out and my parents getting such a kick out of it.
I’m trying to catch up on reading my favorite blogs and hope to be in your neck of the blogging world soon.
Peace,

Welcome back ... we missed you!

love the buttercups and peaceful place :)
We all need a place to feel :grounded: and you have the perfect place. What lovely surroundings.
Good to see you back.

I adore buttercups. (Except when they're in my yard and I"m responsible for cutting them.) But this year for some reason, the fields seem to be aglow with them.
The violets are beautiful.
I remember watching Laugh In; my mother loved the show.
i was all out of whack today too, and i didn't even have spring break! thanks for the violets...
It is nice to have a safe haven amidst the storm. And I remember Laugh In too, I was little, but I can remember my parents watching it.
Kat :)
P.S I love the shot of the violets. See what happens when you lose your mind?! Your forget to tell people you like their photos of violets! ;-)
Kat :)
Hi Kate, Lovely photos and the field of buttercups is pure magic. It looks like an enchanted wood.
Hope your week is peaceful and fulfilling. xo – g
Love this first photo...and laugh in!! OMG such a great show.
Gorgeous country house! What settings did you use to edit the colours of the photo?
And yes, with all the craziness in the world, it is so nice to find a little reprieve in beauty :)

Congratulations on having one of the most sophisticated blogs I’ve come across in some time! It’s just incredible how much you can take away from something simply because of how visually beautiful it is. You’ve put together a great blog space --great graphics, videos, and layout. This is definitely a must-see blog!
You do live in a special place, my friend. Welcome home.
I watched that "Best of Laugh-in" show too! I wasn't allowed to watch it when it originally aired because my parents thought it was too risque...seems pretty tame compared to what's out there now though doesn't it?
Enjoying the little things is how we get through Kate...you're on the right track. ;)
Lovely photos. I just love buttercups in the fields. Our worlds sound the same WONDERFUL ! Have a great day !
The buttercups are lovely!
Our home is our sanctuary also even though it's nothing spectacular. We feel blessed, as you do, to be where we're at right now and thankful that we have a place where we can escape the goings-on in the world!
I hope you can find your work groove soon! It's always difficult getting it back after a wonderful vacation!
I do love to travel and see new places, but like Dorothy said "there's no place like home"--when the turmoil seems overwhelming, home is such a sweet retreat! Love the outer and inner loop--our property is so waterlogged now that I would sink a foot deep if I tried to walk it!
Welcome home!
I haven't seen Laugh In for quite some time.
I'll be ruined at the end of the month when I take most of 2 weeks off....
Every time I see a field of buttercups I think of my mother. They are her favorite flowers. When I was very tiny I would pick her handfuls that she would proudly display in a vase, even if the stems were so short and stubby they basically floated. ...I wish we had buttercups so prevalently up here.
Those buttercups take me back in time to memories of my childhood with my grandmother. Simple but sweet.
We truly are richly blessed, are we not?
Hugs,
Carolynn
Just read your Blog for the first time. Really enjoyed it and was very happy to see you still have a pure soul! It's great seeing that you and Drew are doing so well, I pray that Drew continues to get healthier. Be well!

Missed you so much ... welcome home!
Lovely violets. When we were children we used to pick bunches like that and put eaves round the edge. The smell was divine.
LOVE Laugh-In....smiles.
Laugh-in!!!... haven't thought of that show in SOO long~~ thanks for the memories...
We need a laugh-in again, don't ya think?
So, so beautiful -- the house, the violets and the buttercups all... It's a good spring, isn't it? :)
xoxo
When the chaos of the world weighs heavy on our minds it is a comforting thought to know there is a safe place to retreat too!
Beautiful shots and the buttercups beckon!
The shot of the violets is superb!
gorgeous violets!! hope you're back on track soon.
There's no place like home:)
xoxo
I really like how you put that into words about having a place to feel safe in while you enjoy the simple things in life. It's so beautiful there and those violets were even soothing. The buttercups are lovely too. There must be more to the story of the inner and outer loops, it already makes me smile. xo ~Lili
I remember Mama holding buttercups under my chin and telling me I loved butter because the yellow rubbed off on me! So many good memories when I come to "Chronicles!" Glad you're back where you belong.
Laugh in was so funny I remember it when I was little...love how your hubby puts things...he sounds like quite a guy...glad your back home safe and sound and look forward to more photos from your trip..
I just love your photos of that amazing house. A beautiful sanctuary indeed! That George is one lucky dog.
