I love road trips

My husband and I are headed to Maine for a long-awaited week’s vacation. Oh yes, and you can bet that George will be with us. Maine is one of his favorite places to visit. The cottage we rented has no internet service, so this will be the last post for a week.

I think I’m really going to miss you.

But I’m planning on having a wonderful time. I’m going to be meeting up with Lili, whose blog, {Fearless Nesting}, I’ve been reading for a couple of years.

Here’s a couple of photos from last year’s trip.

View from the car window while descending Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park.

The view from the front lawn of the rental house. The same mountain that you see above is in the clouds there on the right. I loved the house where we stayed and you can see photos of it here:

Where we stayed for the week – June 2010

I had never before used a kayak and discovered something I now love. I need to do it more.

Jordan Pond and The Bubbles.

If you’re thinking that they look like something familiar, you’re absolutely correct.

: : :

I’m hoping that the place we rented is going to be a good one. You never know until you get there, you know - but even if it’s not – hey, we’ll still be in Maine.

And meanwhile, back at the ranch . . .

My husband shot this yesterday evening. We’re going to miss the little hummingbirds while we’re away.

Speaking of which, blogging friend Ellen sent me a link to an interesting video taken by a photographer who noticed that the migrating hummingbirds seemed to be attracted to the red stripe running along his camera strap. He decided to try a little experiment and the results are amazing.

Have a wonderful week up there Kate! I wish we were going up this week too so that I could meet you but we aren't going until August as usual...

The Maine Grind coffee shop on Main St in Ellsworth has free internet and is a really neat place if you want to check your email....

I wish you and your husband a great vacation! Goodness knows you need it.

Again, wish we could meet but I'm glad you'll at least be meeting one other blogger. The weather looks to be winning for the first half of your vacation. My husband is on vaca as well but we'll be staying home. What's new.

Thank you for reminding me to make hummingbird food!

Id like to invite everyone to read a blog post today of a woman who joined the old order Mennonite church from the outside. I'm extremely lucky in publishing her very first, and most likely last post on Amish Stories. A lot of work was involved in her getting permission to be even able to write anything on the internet, and permission was given by her bishop. So please stop by and read about a woman who gave-up her car and other worldly possessions for the person that she loved. Richard from Amish Stories.

Hope you have a wonderful time. We are heading out next week for Door County, WI and Traverse City, MI. Our air card doesn't work up in the boonies, but I am kinda glad cause I am not tempted to sit at the PC instead of going out and enjoying the place.

Hey-it's not going to be camping! Yay!! You found the perfect (non-camping) spot--if it's anything like last year. I'm happy for you--and a bit sad for me--but you deserve it a lot more, I am pretty sure!
Have fun, and have George--a must-have!
I'll miss your posts everday.:(

Safe and fun journey. We are heading to Maine in October, our first time in the area. Looking forward to the beauty but not the heights. Yikes...that first picture would put men in the floorboard of the car!
