George overload

Several of you have asked how George liked his vacation to Maine, and I think he had a pretty good time. He’s great during long trips, and he loves being with us. And well, I think I’ll just let him tell you himself.

Take it away then, George.

Hi. I’m George and I’m a border collie. My humans took me on vacation with them again and I was hoping we would visit my favorite place. I knew we were going there when the ride was really long. And then I could smell it. We were in Maine! I love Maine. And I love that the cat has to stay home.

I went on many adventures. My humans called them hikes. Here is a picture of me with dad on top of Schoodic Mountain. No, wait. I think it’s called Schoodic Head.

Here I am on another adventure to Eagle Lake. It was hot in Maine this year but I was happy.

I got a new toy and I played fetch with it a lot.

Over and over and over. Everybody knows I like fetch.

I got up early every day with dad.

And we watched the sunrise together.

Things smell different here. I think that’s one of the best parts. Did you know I was born here? I don’t remember any of it, but it smells familiar.

I found a boat with my name!

No, I didn’t. I cannot tell you a lie. My mom photoshopped it for me.

I want to say for the record that this is as far as I go at Thunder Hole. This step right here is it for me.

I do not like loud booms.

I do not like their sound.

I also do not like it

when there’s children running round.

I hope you like my poem. Little people and loud booms aren’t my favorite things.

I love Maine. I hope I get to go back soon.

Thanks for visiting me today.

George, such a poet you are! I think you need to speak to your mom and pop about having your own blog!

The 3 border collies who run our house found your blog for me. They want a vacation to Maine just like George. Oh, and they want me to tell you that George is the name of their big boy's little boy.

George, that looks wonderful, and it looks so much like where I live, over here on the other side of the continent on the Pacific Ocean. You're welcome to visit me any time. And I promise you there will be no loud booms, but there will be children running around. You can teach them to fetch.

You are one handsome dawg. :-)

George...the poet and storyteller! I think you may have found your mojo! Maybe from time to time, your mom might let you post your thoughts on life and your poetry on her blog! May I say that you are a handsome devil and my dog daughter Gracie would be over the moon if she ever met you!
Give your mom a lick from me! PS: Gracie doesn't like loud sounds or little children either!

You're a very athletic fellow, George. Excellent fetching. You've really captured the essence of your vacation with your humans and I would have believed the bit about the boat, if you hadn't fessed up. I like an honest dog. BTW, I feel the same way about booms and kids. I may borrow your little ditty from time to time.

Big Squishy Hug,
Carolynn

My dog Kaja doesn't like loud sounds or fast moving little people either George! Unfortunately he doesn't like riding in the car either so he won't be going to Maine with us on vacation...silly dog!

PS Tell mom I love that last photo!

Ah!! I'm finally caught up after my blog hiatus! What awesome photos your people took while in Maine. We've had an awful time finding places that will take our dogs when we're traveling so I'm glad that you weren't having to sneak into your places under cover of darkness!!
Isn't Maine and Acadia glorious? We've got a son who is a NPS ranger so the parks are dear to our hearts!

Great job George! My Canine Companion Sparkie (she's a 100% pure bred, American mixed breed of the South Carolina varity) doesn't like loud booms either. I heard about this thing called Thundershirt. I haven't bought one for my Sparkie (because we have a life jacket and it seems to have the same calming effect) but thought your Mom & Dad might to look into one for you.
