Last night, after a long day of running errands and keeping busy, I sat down in front of the computer for the first time in several days. I began reading your lovely comments from previous posts and I came across one that made me stop and think.
One of my readers told me that visiting my blog was like going to a favourite store. There was the anticipation of seeing something wonderful, and inspiring, and that I never disappoint.
I was so surprised. And please believe me when I say I’m not trying to toot my own horn here. When I began this blog back in late 2007, my sole purpose – my mission statement, as it were – was to do just that. Thank you, Jen, for putting it into such kind words.
This blog keeps me sane. Your comments validate the photography I share here, and I cherish every one of you who visit. I may not say so every single day, but believe me – I speak the truth.
And now on to today’s photo shares . . . taken over the past couple of days.
Robins, robins, everywhere . . . hopping all over the yard. They stretch up very tall, and poke their heads over the high grass.
Robins were all over the dogwood tree at one point yesterday. My husband was walking in the yard, and must have spooked them out of the grass. They flittered into the tree, waiting for him to pass.
He walks every day and his footsteps (and mine) have created a trail around the property. He calls the trails the inner and outer loop. He’s on the inner loop in the photo above.
Our son bringing in his laundry. We told him if he wanted to live here with us, he’d have to do his own laundry (of course) and hang it on the line. He says he actually prefers to not use the dryer.
Please note our hillbilly clothesline made up of branches from the trees. We can hang a lot of wash in this little space. My husband used tent stakes to keep the branches sturdy.
No offense to hillbillies out there, mind you.
Almost had the wing spread here, and wow – it coulda been a contendah! I was playing with that shutter speed and holding it on continuous. Maybe if I had set it just a little bit faster . . .
. . . oh well, maybe next time.
The azalea bushes at the front of the house are in full bloom.
I love spring.
I’ve always been a firm believer in this saying.
Got the free stamp {here} at Kim Klassen’s place.
Yesterday’s skies in the late afternoon.

Today promises to be full of much to do, and in the afternoon I’m heading on a road trip to visit blogging friends and will be gone until Saturday. Woot! I will try to catch up with all of you after that. I love Spring Break!
Thanks so much for stopping by today ~

oooh, just love that image with the azalea, texture...and ...film edge?
BEAUTIFUL pics and post.
Luv me a Honda Element too!
Beautiful as always - and I love the fact you caught the bird wings as they are. It's almost an optical illusion - took me a while to figure out which direction the bird was flying in!
In the sea of information, and inspiration, that is Blogland, it's wonderful to find those to whom we connect. They become the reason we blog, read blogs, and give so much of our precious time to the computer.
Kate, quite simply you deliver.
Have a wonderful trip, and a great time.
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
I think Jen perfectly summed up how we all feel about visiting your blog! And that bird pic is still amazing, even without the full wing spread. Enjoy your trip.
Kat
Totally agree with Jen. I look forward to coming here and saying hi!
Love to hang my clothes but alas I have no clothes line. That would be next after we finish the outdoor kitchen/patio area.

Road trip!!!!!!
and look at you .. skywriting your name!!!
You are definitely one of the good things in life!
(Pep thinks it funny that in english we can use 'thing' for a person. It sounds weird in Spanish! but you know what I mean)
It's good to know that we also give you something good because coming here is always such a pleasure I want to return the favour.
I wonder why tears come to my eyes so often when I see your photos - does anyone else have that reaction?
I love that you are sharing some more images of the important people in your life, and sometimes glimpses of you yourself. It makes me feel so trusted.
Have a great trip
Catalan Kate xx
PS those Robins are nothing like the ones we have here in Europe - must look them up they are so impressive!

Jen said it well. Your blog is such a comfortable place to be. Especially love the bird shots. And George and Blackie,of course, but that goes without saying. Your azaleas are stunning! Mine are finished already, but I do have a bunch of robins in the grass. Is flitter a word? If not, it should be. Enjoy your break!
Well, imho, I think the woodpecker shot IS a contendah! Love woodpeckers & love this shot.
Beautiful pics-have been away and missed you! especially the bird-perfect the way you-not on purpose!-caught the wings!~~Rain
Visiting here is a treat. I love your posts. You never disappoint. Thanks for sharing your photos.

i love seeing your "boys" and that bird is PERFECT just like he is.....really perfect !!
just so you know, you're not like a favorite store to me, but instead like a favorite magazine.
the kind you see in the bookstore, grab like it's the last copy, leave completely closed until you get home so you can sit on the couch, all curled up and devour while ignoring everything else in your life. yep, like that !!
a big x and o to you sweet friend !!
glad you didn't get the wing spread b/c I'm not sure I've seen a shot quite like that one.... incredible
the first photo and caption should be part of your children's book you should be writing.....
it's nice to feel validated, isn't it... thank you, Jen for putting lovely words to the thoughts of many....
thanks for taking the time to share, Kate
I agree with the comment your friend left (which inspired this post). I always expect something beautiful when I stop in to visit you, Kate...and you, my friend, never fail to deliver.
Blessings,
Donna

Yes, although we "try not to get excited" we all really do love the simple things in life that you relate so well and photograph so well. Have a wonderful time on your travels!
Your property is just lovely, there's always something interesting going on!
Beautiful azalea bush!! I like that saying. I do appreciate the little things so much more as I age. I am not on the computer like I used to be but your blog is the first one I go to & always catch up if it's been a few days!!
This feels like an Ode to Gratitude. I really enjoyed reading it and felt warmed by your sentiments. I think that last photo of the bird flying off is stunning, just the way it is. So many beautiful images, as usual.
