Hello again

Do you miss me when I’m away this long? I wonder sometimes but I think a lot of us are busy in the summertime and my poor blog here seems to have gone by the wayside.

But I’m still here. Still working every day. And I’m still taking photos to share with you.

Here are several ~

Sunday, early morning light.

Miss Blackie came out to the garden with me while I shot some photos.

The garden entrance.

This is my husband’s garden and I don’t often venture in. It’s way too crowded for me but we’re enjoying zucchini, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The peas were finished a month ago, and the lettuce has been finished for even longer than that. Everything has been delicious this year.

I posted this to Instagram on Sunday but the pictures I take with the big camera are so much better. I do know that some people use their big camera to post on Instagram but I’m more of a purist when it comes to that. To me, Instagram means “using your camera phone” so that’s what I do. Sometimes the photos I see there simply blow me away, but then I realize that people are using their big DSLR, so of course they’re going to be gorgeous.

So I wouldn’t be posting say . . . this . . . to Instagram.

Because I took it with the DSLR and the macro lens.

Or this.

For the same reason.

Or this sweet little morning glory.

So my question to you – to those of you who use Instagram – are you strictly using your phone pictures? Or what? Inquiring minds would like to know.

In other news ~

Today is someone’s birthday.

Yes!

George is five years old today and he’d like to thank all of you who left birthday wishes this morning on his Facebook Page.

: : :

I have off from work tomorrow and am heading to the Jersey Shore (of all places). We are visiting our good friends who are up with their family from MS and staying in a cool Victorian house owned by an old high school friend.

And then Friday after work, I’m heading to the Big City for dinner with friends and a Farewell to one of them who will be moving to TN soon.

I’ll be sure to take pictures ~

: : :

Uh-oh. I’m late for birthday dinner. My husband is cooking! I’m hoping there will be cake and ice cream, too. Ha!

Love seeing your IG work!

For me, IG is for phone pics. I've posted just a few pics from my D7000, but made sure I tagged them appropriately. Folks who post mostly DSLR pics, tagged or not, are unfollowed.

Happy Birthday, George! *scritchies*

Happy Birthday George!!! Of course we miss you Kate... but to be honest I like when people DON't post every day as then I don't feel so guilty when I don't! Never tried Instagram - cannot afford another time-sucking device/app in my life! Looks fun though.

Happy Birthday George! I hope that birthday dinner is a tasty one!
As far as IG goes, I'm one of those purists, too. I only use photos I take on my phone.

Wonderful photos. I'm planning to buy a DSLR camera. Can you give some tips in buying one? What brand and model do you think I should buy?

Happy birthday George!
I only post pictures taken with my phone on IG, and iI find it very irritating when people use their Big camera.
I'm finding IG to be very addicting (that's what happens when you have addiction in your blood), but it's so Fun!!
Have a great time these next few days.

Wow--I can't believe I missed this post--Happy Birthday, George, you beautiful boy! I haven't gotten the IG app yet....I'm so forgetful! The pictures you take are just too beautiful to be IG'd!

Guess what? George's birthday is the day after Blue! She would have been 16 on the 10th and of course I was thinking of her and of course I wore blue!
No sadness - it is life's mysterious way and on the journey back to the UK I often thought how much she would have hated the travelling.
But now I will never forget Georges birthday. How wonderful that he is only 5 and such a young boy.
forgive my not leaving many comments on my travels. Wifi has been patchy and time rather limited. But yesterday I saw a white feather and thought of hope and you

Happy Birthday to George!

I use instagram mainly for fun... occasionally I use the pictures on blog posts, but for all my main photography I still use my camera. I think I have the same one as you.

Sometimes, you just have to have the right equipment for the job!
