It's Sunday morning and I have no idea whether or not this will post. The speed is so slow, but I'm not going to get into that. I got a headache yesterday just thinking of it. So today I'm planning on only having good thoughts.
We're trying to plan a vacation to Maine for a week some time this summer. My husband needs to get away from the farm for awhile and the weather in Maine is beautiful. When we were younger, we used to go to Ocracoke Island, NC for our vacation week. I can still stand the heat of the beach, but my husband, not so much. He prefers it a little more cool and he enjoys all the hiking in Acadia National Park.
If you've never been there, you need to go at some point. Trust me. It's one of the most beautiful parks in the country. These pictures were taken with our little Sony Cybershot last August. We stayed at a rental house we found on the internet. It was about a half hour from the park, which was our destination every day. After walking all day, we'd come home to the hot tub and relax and have lobster for dinner. I loved our vacation last year and it was just what we needed.
My husband is looking for places to stay now, but it's just a little bit cumbersome with the internet speed. Oops, I forgot. I'm not complaining today.
The first shot is the view of Echo Lake from one of the trails we took. The hiking can be a bit rough, but the views are so rewarding and the feeling of accomplishment is great. Plus, I knew the hot tub, a fresh lobster dinner and a glass of wine was awaiting as another reward!
The second shot was taken from Cadillac Mountain. We'd started one of the trails up there, and the town of Bar Harbor is very small and right in the center of the picture, near the little islands you see. Bar Harbor gets pretty crowded, but it's a fun and bustling town to visit. Lots of cool shops and plenty of good restaurants. But we go for the nature because my husband is Nature Boy. You knew that, right?
I forgot to mention that I have off for the entire week to come. We always close the academic offices down after we get the report cards out. I've got a short road trip planned, among other things. And I need to tell you that George visits the vet on Tuesday for his, um, his little operation that will help him to overcome the burning need to hump my leg.

It looks like a lovely vacation spot. Poor George! Have a great week off.
Wow, its beautiful!
Oh George, you'll be okay!
Give George an ear rub of sympathy for me. He'll be an even better doggie after his little nip and tuck surgery.
We've spent several vacations in Maine and loved it. Didn't get up to Acadia, but stayed on Long Lake for a week and had a blast!
I so hope you can eventually solve your ISP woes. I know it is so frustrating for you, Kate!
What a pretty spot for a vacation! I hope you have a good week off... George will be ok but somehow I don't think the humping will stop. Or maybe it is only my dogs that keep up such behavior after the deed is done?
Aw, poor George, give him an extra love from me. The pictures are beautiful (as always). I looks like a wonderful place to vacation. I think we are going to Yellowstone this year but we aren't 100% decided. Have fun where ever you go!!
There's nothing like getting away to a cool place in the summer to put a spring in your step. And hiking is good for the soul. Sounds like a good, healthful vacation.

GAH! I'M SO HOMESICK.
Ooh, that's pretty! Now, having lived on the Outer Banks for 3 years, and having a MIL who still lives there, I'd have trouble giving up Ocracoke Island. BUT - I've always wanted to visit Maine. Looks stunning!
Peace - D
The photos look lovely. Have a great vacation.
George... you won't remember a thing! :)
This certainly looks lovely. You and your husband deserve this I know so I hope it goes as wonderful for you this year as last. Treasure!
Acadia National Park is one of the most beautiful spots I've seen. I camped there about 6 years ago and loved it. Great sites to see and oh, the lobster.. drool!
Oh, my, that second photo is breathtaking!! Oh, to live closer to New England. Have a wonderful time!!
Acadia National Park. I will add that to my future road trip list.
I love national parks. Love them.
