My visit to Longwood Gardens continues today, only this time there aren’t any flowers. These are some of the extra little things that I saw during my walk that caught my eye.
The photo below was one of several hanging lamps that adorned one of the garden sections. You can see the clear roof of the conservatory above.
I took the next one in the ballroom. It was very dark in there, but standing under one of the chandeliers, you’d never know it, would you? Look at all the rays shooting out from the circle’s edge. And I loved the pale pink color. It was more of a champagne, actually.
This picture was taken while strolling down to the treehouse. There’s a little old-fashioned water fountain that awaits thirsty visitors. I like the moss-covered brick.
And below we have an adornment on one of the bridges (left photo) and a playful ornament above one of the fountains in the children’s garden.
And speaking of embellishments, I had some business cards made by my lab where I get my photos processed. I use mpix.com when I sell my prints. They did a good job on my cards, but my husband took one look at it and told me this:
“Well, you could have picked a better flower, you know. This one looks like it has a giant hard-on.” Oh, he’s ever the funny one, he is. The flower I used for the card can be seen here. I posted it on Tuesday and never would have thought it looked like that. Well, until now. Oy vey.
Until tomorrow, my friends . . .

Your husband's a real card. Ha.
Oh goodness, no wonder my friend kept telling me she loved your blog. She's always telling me about your beautiful photographs and your sense of humor. Today was a good day to check in!

Love the Longwood Garden photos, but I'll never see a hibiscus flower the same way every again ;)

:::giggle::: this only proves that men think of sex every 53 seconds!
I love how you noticed and were aware of different things and at different viewpoints, thanks for sharing that perspective.
As for the flower, he has a point there, I had a similiar reaction to it when I first saw it in your post, but that maybe a good marketing picture, people surely aren't going to forget it now :)
Beautiful place. thanks for sharing.
Your photos are gorgeous as usual Kate, I loved them all, even the hard one, which I didn't think of either, so I think you'll be alright. It sounds like your hubby always has the same thing on his mind as mine does.
*hugs*
The lamp details are gorgeous! And, the brickwork of the bridge. You have a wonderful eye!
(Your flower link...well....flowers are just that way....very uninhibited.)
Your husband has a good eye! Excuse me, but I just couldn't help it.
Luscious photos...the mossy bricks are outstanding.
Fenway posed for some daffodils for you...check it out!
Oo, oo, oo, love the architectural details you found there. I saw that flower photo the other day and I didn't see the phallic symbol, but that's men for you.
Laura
The details are beautiful! I especially love the ram planter / statuary! Would fit in nicely with my place...and your husband's comment on your cards...ha-ha!
Your hubby tells it like he sees it, doesn't he?LOL What must the conversation be like between him and George while they are out taking pictures? Can't wait to read what he says or does next.LOL
Have a great evening.
well if you look at it with that in mind it is quite obvious, Men always are thinking that way :)
Great photos today as always.
Males. Gotta love 'em. I think... ;)
The pictures are just lovely. makes me want to go visit.
Also, hahaha, your husband's comment made me laugh.

Hi Kate....great pictures of Longwood Gardens...one of my brothers used to live close by there...and I hate to say it but your husband is right about the flower picture....
On of these days out garden club may actually get there - we talk about it every year.
I'm guessing Longwood Gardens isn't likely to offer your husband a job as a guide :0
