View from the front porch

I was so tired when I came home from work today. So tired, I didn’t feel like a walk. So my husband brought me some tea and as I sat on the front porch steps drinking it, I realized how clear our view was. We could see for miles this afternoon.

As I sat there, I realized that when this house was built, the family who lived here was probably very prominent. I say this because of the view that would have been afforded back in Colonial times. I know you can’t see it in this picture, but the land rolls and swells beneath this hill. The Elk River lies off in the distance to the right, and none of these trees would have been here in pre-Revolutionary War days. It would have been an expansive view.

Looking off to the right, I can see some weather coming. I also notice George chasing the cat.

This was taken later, after dinner. I put the two photos together to give you an idea of the view. Soon all the leaves will be out and we won’t be able to see much. We’ll be all enclosed in this little cocoon at the top of the hill.

Our grass turned green with today’s rain. I swear it wasn’t this green when I left for work this morning.

If you stand at a certain point in the backyard when the leaves are off the trees, you can see three bridges. My husband dubbed it the three bridges spot. You can see as far as the Delaware Memorial Bridge. There’s a couple more we can see along the C&D Canal, but not all at the same time because of the trees.

This little front blew in just before dinner tonight. It was gone pretty quickly and nothing came of it but a few rain drops.

My husband’s little lettuce plants liked it. He has them set in pots at the foot of the front steps. Hope your weekend is a good one. Thanks again to all for stopping by.
