Bee happy.

I sat down to the computer this afternoon to see this beautiful photo on the desktop, courtesy of my husband. He took this image today of a carpenter bee on one of his sunflowers and I thought it was a good one.

Unfortunately, contrasty areas sort of bug me. I’m talking about the glowy areas on the yellow. It’s where the sun is hitting the petal.

DSC_0742 copy 2

This is straight out of camera above.

DSC_0742 copy 3

This is me getting freaky. I used Kevin Kubota’s BW Edgey. Now you can really see how blown out those yellow leaves are.

They look like x-ray leaves.

And please don’t think I’m picking on or belittling my husband’s photo taking skills.

DSC_0742 copy 7

I like this one better, I think. I ran two actions: TRA’s Troy at 15% opacity and Rusty Cage at 27% and then cropped as a large square.

Swirls

And now, folks, because it’s Friday night and because inquiring minds need to know, here’s a few questions for you:

1. When is your usual bedtime?

2. In the past month, what was your biggest OOPS?

3. How many relatives do you have named “Bob”.

4. Tea, or coffee, or juice in the morning?

5. Right now, I hear __________________ .

I love finding out more about everyone. See you in the comments, my friends.

I liked the crop. It shows the excellent focus of the bee, while eliminating some of the over-exposed petals.

1. In bed at 9:45 to watch a half-hour sit-com while snuggling with my wife. Lights out and TV off around 10:15.
2. Forgot to pay the Visa Bill. Was able to get the late charge waived, but was still hit with finance charges
3. None that I can think of

This is such a fun quiz!

1. 10:00 is bedtime, but embarrassingly enough, I often fall asleep if I watch TV in the evening, maybe as early as 8:00.

2. Biggest oops was that I had been saving all my files onto an external hard drive, thinking that those are safe and foolproof. Of course, there's no such thing as safe and foolproof. External hard drive died, taking along with it all my photos, graphic design projects, business financial records, etc, for the past 4+ years. BIG oops. I haven't cried, but I've wanted to.

3. Not a one.

4. Can't live without the coffee.

5. My 17-year old daughter is typing on her computer upstairs while I type on mine downstairs. It's the dueling keyboards.

1. Usual bedtime - 9:00 p.m.

2. Biggest OOPS - ordered colored underwear online when I meant to order white. I despise colored underwear.

3. Mercifully I have NO relatives named “Bob”.

4. Neither Tea, nor coffee, nor juice in the morning. Just water or Lactaid milk.

5. Right now, I hear the stupid "trailer park" kids next door shouting and hitting a ball against my house when we're trying to get to sleep so we can get up at 5:00 a.m. for a Swim Meet tomorrow morning. Ignorant little bastards.....they must be prescient though because they just piped down.

3. How many relatives do you have named “Bob”.

My usual bedtime is way too late and I need to work on changing that. usually around 12:00.

My most recent biggest oops was when we had some missionaries over for dinner and one of them told me his name was Elder Schmuk......And he was from Austria and had quite an accent and I thought he pronounced it Shmuck.....And I actually laughed out loud and said wow I bet you get a hard time with that last name.....it just came out. And he said no, you pronounce it shmook. So then I felt very bad and I think I offended the poor kid. My big mouth is always getting me into trouble.

I have no immediate relatives named Bob.

I usually drink one of those Emergen-C vitamin drinks in the morning with breakfast or just water.....

Right now I can hear a fan going and every once in a while the bed in my daughters bedroom creak as she moves around in her sleep. It is an old antique bed that was my great grandmothers. It is a comforting sound.

2. In the past month, what was your biggest OOPS?
I was making vegetable relish a few days ago - spent hours chopping and measuring - and while lifting up the pot to put it on the stove, I judged poorly and lost nearly a pint on the floor. Thankfully, I still had enough for 9 pints! But getting rid of the apple cider vinegar smell took a day or so... :)

3. How many relatives do you have named “Bob”.

Contrast is the spark of life. :)

1. When is your usual bedtime? ~ When my head hits the pillow.

2. In the past month, what was your biggest OOPS? ~ Probably spending too much money.

3. How many relatives do you have named “Bob”. None, believe it or not.

4. Tea, or coffee, or juice in the morning? Coffee!!!!

5. Right now, I hear crickets, Goldfinches and wind chimes.

oops: unintentionally hurting my daughter's
feelings.

coffee!!!

hear: my dog shaking his little collar and
husband shaking open his paper.

your husband's photo is exquisite, even if
you don't like 'shiny'. :)

Bedtime - Wish it was 9pm, but usually ends up being closer to 10:30.

Biggest OOPS - Do I have to pick just one? ;)

Bob - I think just one... My brother.

In the morning - COFFEE. COFFEE. COFFEEEEE!!! With half and half and a scoop of turbinado sugar. It warms up my soul for the day.

I hear - Birds chirping out the window and a slight breeze.

How did I miss this?? I enjoy your questions so much.

1. I try to be in bed by ten but sleep is another matter.

2. Dropping my camera, spilling my tea on it while trying to open a door with one hand was my material oops. My owie oops was getting cut by the toe nails of a shetland pony sized dog.

3. I know of one but I try not to know too many.

4. Iced sweet tea...is there another breakfast beverage?

5. This moment, I hear the hum of the air trying to cover the sound of roosters crowing. The house is still silent for the morning but if I listen closely, I can hear myself moaning because I must work today.

Thanks for the fun!

I'm late again! Was out on Friday, cleaning house. Ugh. Family came down to The Tomato Festival.

1. Usually around 10.

2. Getting stepped on by my show horse Jolie at the show and severly pulling a hamstring and groin muscle.

3. No relatives named Bob. But for some reason my sister and BIL call their nephew "Bob" all the time.

4. Coffee with fat free creamer and sweet and low

5. Right now all I hear is keys clicking, the squeaky hall door opening or closing and the A/C coming out of the vents over my head.

I'm late here but I do find these fun:)
1. I like to think 11PM but by the time I tear myself away from the computer it is often much much later...

2. Hitting too many digits when making an electronic mortgage payment...Who would have thought that overpaying would have been such a HUGE hassle?

3. Well Mr O for one!

4. Coffee every morning...

5. Monday afternoon and right now it is very very quiet...just a faint air conditioner...and cars driving by occaisionally...

1. bedtime: around 11.

2. OOPs, had Mexican food Tuesday night, complete with black beans. Went to photography class Wed. aft. on location. Bent way over to get shots off the ground, and out of no-where! a little toot! "Oh, shit, I thought, I didn't even know that was coming." so embarrassed.

3. Probably no Bobs. Have a cat named Bob though.

4. Juice or water.

5. Right now, I hear...golf on TV, quietly, in the other room. Also very loud keyboard strikes. Need a new keyboard, I guess.
