Dream a little dream for me, Rose Marie

It rained today. Sweet, gentle and wonderful rain. It had been quite some time since we had any, so it’s a good thing.

And it’s still raining.

It’s funny how some posts that I write seem to hit a chord with so many readers, like the one from yesterday on black raspberries. I loved reading your comments, especially from those of you who had childhood memories that involved picking berries with a parent or grandparent and eating the jam that was made from the fruit. I even had a reader send me her husband’s recipe for freezer jam. Thanks, Leenie!

And speaking of Leenie, a long-time reader of my blog, she has a great little tutorial for shooting photos of the moon. Just sayin’.

I’m posting photos of things I like to eat that involve berries. Above are Carr’s table water crackers smeared with strawberry cream cheese and topped with blueberries. I just love ‘em. And the cream cheese is the low-fat version.

I never buy the non-fat version of cream cheese. It is not good.

I also love Carr’s whole wheat crackers and strawberries. Tastes like a cookie.

My house is a mess. I just think you should know that. It’s dusty. And there are puppy toys everywhere.

And fur.

I dislike my vacuum very much. I have three. Only two work and I dislike all of them equally. At night when I sleep, I dream of vacuuming with {this}.

Someday my dreams will come true.

And pigs will fly.

And I will eat strawberries in a sugar glaze over pound cake and vanilla bean ice cream.

The end.

Love,

I think I would vacuum more if I loved my vacuum. That makes sense, doesn’t it?

You are REALLY making me hungry with all these foodie posts! I'm so going to try the cracker/cream cheese berry ensemble! Man...I'm drooling!

It's a 5 star vacuum for a reason . . . Miele is awesome! I know because I have one! I've worked in a lot of homes and used a lot of vacuums. So far Miele is the best. They may be a little pricey but they're worth it. Oh, and we buy our vacuum cleaner bags on eBay. Soooo much cheaper.

Now let's eat some berries! After all, they have a lot of antioxidants ; )

The only vacuum I will ever enjoy using is the automatic hands off model! :) Those strawberries look yummy. I picked some from my garden last night, think I must go eat them now, never thought about crackers and cream cheese with them, thanks for the suggestion!

You're making me salivate.

Glad the recipe came through. DH took over making jam because he was a prof and had the summers off. Unlike me who gets a vaca a few days a year. Now he is type 2 diabetic. So he's working on a sugar sub jam.

A good vacuum, now that is worth checking into.

Oh, you just had to mention those sugar glazed strawberries...

Unrelated but you made me think of it... if you like peanut butter, a GREAT sandwich is peanut butter and sliced red seedless grapes on whatever bread.

Yes you would, like I would vacuum more if my carpet was not from the 80's and blue ;o(. Dislike it. I love your cracker recipes~! Also I think you should eat your pound cake, with sugared strawberries and French vanilla cream. Twice a month at least!

There is not a vacuum available that would convince me to enjoy vacuuming :) If it makes you feel better, my house is dusty as well. Lots and lots of pollen on my large, black entertainment center :(

Strawberry season is almost upon us....can't wait to have fresh ones for everything. I'll try to resist the temptations of ice cream and sweet treats. Love them just as they are.

I need a new vacuum too but I spent all my money on the macro lens..Too bad about that dust!

Oh that made me so hungry! Just got up and I haven't had breakfast yet...blueberries are one of my favorites foods, I eat them almost everyday in the summer.
And I have hairballs up to my knees just now...it has been a week of 15 hours work days so I have missed doing my daily round-up with the cordless vac. But you know what? The world has not ended.
My husband actually dusted for me on Sunday, and I am quite sure that I saw a couple of pigs fly by just then.

(we both wrote about cleaning today...or lack there of.) Anyway, I think vacuuming is highly overrated...now I'm off to see if we have any strawberries...

I love water crackers....very british!! and the wheat one too...
I have a Dyson and although the "suck" is fantastic, I find it hard to work with....rather cumbersome in my opinion....but it does clean well, when the Hubs does the hard stuff!!!!! Off to have a cracker with butter and marmalade, MMMM...

I love berries. LOVE them.

I also hate vacuuming. As for dust...with the incessant renovations going on over here, I'm learning to embrace the dust.

Hilary said...

Vacuuming.. sucks! But those berries.. much better to be dreaming of them. Great shots.

Man, I need one of those. Yeah, I totatlly agree, we'd vacuum more if we liked our vacuum cleaner!

You are not alone...I've lost all control of my home environment, and I no longer care. This morning I spilled some milk. I sat down, had my coffee, my bagel, and then I thought about cleaning it up...it's still there...all over the sticky counter.
I don't care...I think I'll get some strawberries!

Wow - those strawberries look delicious! My grandpa grew a strawberry patch every year, and I would help "pick" as you say - I don't know that I ever brought any back in the bowl that I was supposed to fill - but my belly was always full! :) Now I take my kiddos berry picking at a local farm and I have learned to dress them in red before I get there. :)

I don't hate my vacuum. But I still hardly ever use it.

Berry, berry nice pics. :)

I clicked on your blog from another blog simply because of the name of your post. I love berries so I stayed. Then I reminisced about the bygone days of picking berries with my mom and grandmother when I was a baby-girl in the hills of South Dakota. Good memories; faint, but good.

I would probably vacuum more if I loved my vacuum cleaner too. I used to love mine - when it was new. Three, wow. But I can't talk, I had three sewing machines until recently - that didn't work.

I relate.

HI! I purchased the same Meile last month and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Just go get it trust me it's worth it. Light weight and the head adjusts to what ever surface you are on. No need to stop and adjust. You can also change the strength of suction while it's running. It also has a little slid thing on the hadle so if you accidentally hit the long flowing sheers you just slide it and all suction staops from the head! I have a tendancy to get stuck on things often so that was a great selling feature. I got the slightly smaller on in white and Yes I vaccumn more than I ever have. Very conveient to just whip out and suck and put back away. Kelly Rippa take that and your electolux and be gone!(I have that one two and hate it)

The berries look delish! Fat free cream cheese or any cheese isn't good because cheese is made from fat; it's kind of like saying "cheese-less cheese", which is what it is. Did that make sense?

I'm amazed that people (other than me) feel so strongly about their vacuum cleaners! I have 3 dogs, and finally had to break down and get the Dyson Animal, and it's great! The animal has a wonderful attachment that actually gets dog hair off of carpet. I was going to get a Miele, but it uses bags, which I seem to never have when I need them. Like you really wanted to know that, right?

Those treats of yours look great, imagine the taste!

Btw, Miele vacuum cleaners that cost about half of that pricy one are in my experience just as good. So, there you have it! ;-)

Btw, I was going to write that you should check out Candey Hardware & Appliances, that quintessential hometown hardware store with fair prices and great customer service, located near Dupont Circle at 18th and Connecticut NW. I googled to give you its exact location and found out that it has been closed, after more than a 100 years and three generations in the same family. Truly sad! They carried the Miele brand, mid-priced vacuum cleaners included, and they were generally the nicest people. :-(
