Reflections

I have promised myself that I will not sit on this computer all night, working on photos or visiting blogs, or reading mail, or working on a post. I can take a break sometimes and it’s ok.

Yesterday, I worked on another watermark; this one a combination for when my husband takes the photo and I work on it in Photoshop. After I finished the watermark and put it on this photograph, I was surprised to see that I’d put my initial first rather than his. (But I think it looks better this way, truth be told).

Yesterday I also walked the entire outer loop (around the property) a total of four times and the inner loop twice. And I was proud of myself. Walking just makes me feel better. And four times around is a lot.

In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.  ~John Muir

[Hiking] is the best workout!... You can hike for three hours and not even realize you're working out.  And, hiking alone lets me have some time to myself.  ~Jamie Luner

The best remedy for a short temper is a long walk.  ~Jacqueline Schiff

If you want to forget all your other troubles, wear too tight shoes.  ~The Houghton Line, November 1965

“My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was sixty. She’s ninety-seven now and we don’t know where the hell she is.”  ~ Ellen DeGeneres

And on that note, I’ll just say ~ until tomorrow, my friends . . .

That's why everyone needs a dog. Walking is mandatory or, if you're a girl, femandatory!

Love the clover, love the watermark!!! Wish I had someone to walk with -- it gets kind of boring all alone... :)

I love this post. Nothing clears the head like a good walk -- one of my very favourite things to do. Those quotes you had were all perfect. Like you did four times, I too have circulated areas just for the sake of a walk. It truly is great medicine.

I will be back to visit you again. You seem like a beautiful human being.

Great job and I do like the watermark.

I enjoyed the quotes too.

Love the John Muir quote (I may have to borrow it). I've quoted him before in Christmas letters & emails. Did you wear your new shoes on your walk? Oh, they do come in pink, they say "Regal Orchid" but it's pink just the same!

It is ok to take a break, I'm trying to learn that too! And I love the photo and your new watermark...really lovely!

The quotes were great too!

Long walks are the best and if you have some property to explore, even better.

Walking, especially with your best bud dog, is the best form of mental and physical exercise if you ask me. I'm trying to do it every day.

Love those micro photos, nature is amazing when seen up close.

Love the watermark and the photo. Fields of clover blossoming here and smells wonderful :)

Sadly, when I force myself to take a break, I don't know what to do with myself. The life of a farmer :)

It must be so lovely, to have property such as yours, to walk around in complete privacy and peace, at any time. Our neighborhood is so hilly, and at all of the wrong times. Like to start! But, the beach is right here too, and walking at length in the sand, is always a good workout!

Amen, sister, on the walking stuff but also the bit about taking a break and it being OK.

You make that clover flower look like the most beautiful flower on the face of the planet. :-)

I need to start walking the loop around our property - 27 acres. I think that might be really, really, really good for me. Either that, or kill me. LOL

John Muir's words are especially true. Every single time I am outside, whether walking or working, watering flowers or feeding animals, it seems I always discover something new, or even something old that appeals to my senses in a new way.

Hope you are having a lovely spring/summer season (97 today here, so I'm thinking it's summer now!)

{I checked out Turbo's blog, what awesome photos!!! Thanks for recommending his site.)

It's OK, CG and promises to ourselves are just as important as promises to others...

Watermark is looking good :>]]

Enjoyed the walking quotes, especially Ellen's. Think I'd like folks to say that about me one day. Course, I may be on my 4th, 5th or 6th dawg by that time, but we'll be out walking, whatever fur happens to be around... (no offense to my dear, sweet Isla girl, who is currently teaching me that walking heals many things).

I love walking and hiking...good thing too since it is the only exercise I do...I feel like it strengthens my mind as well as my muscles...

Love the watermark... and I love your new shoes...I live in Keens most of the time and adore them but I do have to buy them 1/2 size larger than other shoes...

I took a walk around my property once. It only took 2 mins. Maybe I need new shoes or a dog..Since I met Jack, I'm wanting a dog. Did the new shoes work out?
Great macro shot and I like the watermark.
Take care.

Lovely picture and nice to hear about that long walk - I do agree that there is nothing better than a walk in the countryside to clear your mind. Have a nice day.

Love the photo! And the watermark, too...I run when I can and walk when I can't run, both clear my head, make me feel centered, alive. I need to be outside, that is part of it. I need quiet time, that is part of it, too.
Ellen's quote really cracked me up!
