The first thing I saw when I pulled into the school driveway was this spider web along the fence line.
I used the macro lens for these first two shots.
And then the school came into view.
You can hardly see the building from this vantage point, the fog was so thick.
It was a little difficult to get shots without cars because it was morning drop-off time.
The middle school flag brigade has already gotten their job done.
Parents were driving by and waving, many rolled down their windows to tell me either that they wished they had their cameras, or that I was lucky to have brought mine. I think many of us were awed at the beauty of this morning, and the school building enshrouded in the mist.
The mist and the dew thick on the grass made the morning special.
And I’m glad to call this place home.

lovely images. except for the traffic sounds, i'd imagine it was quite quiet.
The fog makes the school look like something from a spooky movie... *hears chains clanking*
Wow. Those are great pictures. Fog is scary to drive in. I used to drive school bus. I think my favorite picture is the spider web. Good job~!
It kinda looks like something out of Harry Potter. How neat.
Rich~thanks.
the second to last is my fave...don't know why....something about the lamp posts. But I love them all. Looks like the school for XMen or something mysterious like that!!! As always, thanks for sharing....
I love the spider web.....beautiful shot......I'm not surprised!
Ummmm. Were you tardy after all those pretty pictures???
Great shots Kate! I love that first spider web shot.
Gorgeous, I really love the spider web.
Wow! I didn't know that you teach at Hogwarts!
Foggy shots are just the best! Love them all....
Nobody weaves like a spider! And the pictures and verse went so well together--you were really fortunate to have that camera along.:)
We are getting marine mist here....my heart is sighing with happiness. My fav time of year.
Great shots.

So beyond beautiful! Today, in Oregon, it was a similiar type of morning. This afternoon, as I drove to pick my daughter up from school, I saw leaves changing on the trees outside of her school for the first time. It was gorgeous! Fall is my favorite time of the year. Football, hearty meals, shorter days, fire in the fireplace and no better place to be than home!
Thank you for this post. And the spider web shots? Unreal!

...Those spider web photos are simply spectacular! That is one of my fav' things, for some odd reason, is spider webs. :o)
...That school is so pretty, I just love it when you feature photos of it here. You're so blessed to live and work where you do. Love the photos too of your school shrouded in fog, beautiful!
...Thanks for sharing! :o)
...Oh, and btw, did you not like the Coleslaw Dressing? I haven't heard anything and was just a lil' curious. Okay, I'm a lot curious. *giggle* But seriously, if you didn't like it that is fine, I know everyone's tastes are different. :o)
...Have a great rest o' the week!
...Blessings :o)

What a lovely old building. The only thing better is the way you captured the beauty of that morning.
Thanks again Kate for sharing it with us. Wayne
Beautiful job capturing such nice pictures in the fog. I especially love the second to last one...and the spiderweb.
I always leave your site relaxed. sigh. Thanks:)
Makes me think of waking up early in the morning as a kid and finding out that school was delayed for fog. Those mornings were almost as amazing as snow days. :)
Cabin Fever in Vermont
Fantastic shots of the web.
We had a touch of Autumn today too, not as much as you did.
Color me green with envy at the spider web shots
Spooky. Fog always brings with it a sense of reverence and an invitation to be silent, doesn't it?
P.S. Love the poem!
Hi Kate, Wow, that first image took my breath away, really! Love it. Fog is so fleeting but makes the most magical photos. Well done on having your camera! xo – g
I don't believe one can say much after a poem as full as this one and a photo like your first one. I just have to have it on my desktop. Seriously.
fog and spider webs {spider less webs} two of my favorite things ever !
Kate I came across your writings and stunning photographs a few months ago
when weaving my thru links searching for tips I needed regarding painting old clapboards on old houses.
I've happily returned every day since that first visit! Your writings ring true & the photos you share, uplifting!
Sorry I've not delurked (or should it be unlurked? lol) till now....
Thanks for all the visual beauty you allow us to embrace here.
Nothing like a good misty morning...the web pics are beautiful ~ amazing what a spider can do, isn't it? Love your photos.
FAB-ulous!

I love fall spider webs. Not that they are any different than summer ones, they just look so beautiful with the dew. Beautiful picture.
Your photography is quite amazing.
Lovely photos, and I am in love with that spider web...what a work of art on its own!
Lovely photos, and I am in love with that spider web...what a work of art on its own!
awesome shots...
Beautiful!
Is the school an old building or a new building built to look like an old classic? Either way it's lovely!
Fantastic!
I love the spider web, I am amazed at their talent of weaving art, home, and grocery store all in one spot. We humans should be so talented.
Beautiful captures of the foggy morning and, yes, the perfect example of why one should always tote a camera along!
OK, these just made me gasp... gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Fog and spider's webs -- two of my all-time faves!
xoxo
Oh how I love the fog.. and you've certainly captured some beautiful shots here. I especially love the lamppost perspective in the second to last shots. So nicely done.
