It’s wet here in Maryland and to those in areas of extreme dry, oh how I wish I could send you some. My husband took the AC units out several weeks ago and for the most part it’s been pleasant, but today it’s absolutely muggy in this old house. And I almost wish I could turn on the AC.
I did a load of delicates last night and hung them on the drying rack and when I came home from work today, I discovered they were all still damp. They felt like I’d just taken them out of the washing machine.
“Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful.”
I took this photo exactly 3 years ago today. We were living in Pennsylvania and a good drenching rain had just come through. Afterward, I found this praying mantis peeking out from among the impatiens.
I’ve never been the kind of girl who was afraid of bugs.
Sometimes I feel like a nut.
Sometimes I don’t.

Nuts? Did someone say nuts?
Oh, false alarm.

too bad you can't send some rain to Texas....great photos...
Oh my, I am so over this rain. Can we see some sun. That way, in a week, we can all complain about the heat.
Love the praying mantis photo. They look so surprised all the time! They sure surprised me when I worked at the plant nursery! "Oh! Hello!"
love the squirrel (even if your hubby doesn't...)
pithy.
great photos.
the praying mantis looks like he's ready to start the orchestra on a Sousa march..."ready for some noise?"
If a picture's worth a thousand words, you wrote a beautiful BOOK today! Love ALL the photos.
We are having unusually hot, dry weather out here in Oregon; I don't think clothes on my drying rack have EVER dried this fast before. Rainy season is coming and I will soon be tired of mud, but right now I'm tired of DUST.
We can always stay inside and look at your beautiful pictures. It's so green outside you would think it's May!
Oh, thanks for giving me my squirrel fix! We're stranded in Manchester since all flights were cancelled to Philly due to the storm!?
Could have spent another day up in Maine! Love your pics!
I love the mantis, as well! He's beautiful--and different--and we need "different."
It's been very wet here in SE Virginia, too, and it's raining right now. I think we've had about 5 inches in the last couple of days. Then there were the 12 inches we got during Irene!
Glad you felt like posting--even with the humidity. :)
These shots are adorable, but mostly YOU are today with your sweet little post. It's been raining here too, except it's a bit chilly out. xo ~Lili
If it weren't for this rain I would never have had the time to catch up with all my blogging friends!:) Still, I wish I could send some of it to Texas and OK with all those wildfires...
This was a great post for having nothing to say!
Loved the photos and especially how the praying mantis is looking at you!
thanks for making me smile...you nut you !...xo
oh and my amazon coupon thingy arrived :)
I love squirrels. We had a nest of them in our dead tree by our pond. We watched them play from our upstairs window and they were having such fun.
LOL...you are such a nut! Love the photos!! xo
Hello, Kate! Remember me?? Hey, don't let Geaorge catch you being such a big fan of squirrels....you might be in some serious trouble! I loved this!
oooh,,,,and done let G E O R G E catch youe either!
I so wish you could catch the rain and send it down here to Texas. We have so many wildfires burning here tonight. The worst is northwest of me in Bastrop, TX. There have been several in the counties northwest of me over the last several days. One in particular is no where near contained. So please join us in praying for those affected by these fires and for our firefighters who are risking their lives to contain and extinquish them. Please pray that God will hold the winds off and send the rain instead!
I saw a new squirrel proof bird feeder in Target. It actually was pretty, with a middle feeder and almost a pumpkin shaped wire cage. I'm thinking about it. Tired of our old one that looks like a little barbecue..ugly and works as long as it's not to close to the tree.
Hi!!!!
Love the praying mantis photo. And most of the time I feel like a nut. School was closed today because of the flooding issue. I wish I had stayed home instead of coming to work.
Maybe not much but what you have said is delightful.
I LOVE that bug! And, you know I'm a big fan of the squirrel squad.
We're finally enjoying a stretch of hot, sunny days. Unfortunately, I'm inside an airconditioned building for the better part of the day. Nevertheless, it's nice to see the sunshine.
Love those acorn photos ... ours are very small this year and still green.
Well, you totally cracked me up all the same. I love the praying mantis photo, they are just so cool. I had a little baby one on my back door a couple of weeks ago.
I feel the same way, wish I could send this rain to all those that need it.
p.s. did you watch last night?
Loving your photos. Truly.
Oh Kate - I'm in LOVE with this post! Each image is exquisite .... that Mantis is a WOWZA!
Hoping the sun comes out for you soon!
Somedays we don't need to say much. Outstanding photos of the acorn and praying mantis. You were "clever" in a quiet way today. Have a great weekend. Mickie :)
Oh I love the critter and your humor. If your a nut or nuts can I come along.:)
Kate have a wonderful day
