I took this in the early morning light while having my coffee on the patio, still in my pajamas and slippers. It had the makings of a beautiful day.
A little later on, my husband is in the garden with the rototiller. He’d been trying for weeks to get the thing working again. It would sputter and die out each time but today he persevered and was rewarded with a perfectly tilled garden patch.
I went out and bought a new umbrella.
Our old one was beat, and umbrellas make things look fun.
Seriously Springtime here.
Lunch on the patio under the new umbrella.
With a cocktail.
* gasp *
Later on, I noticed a male bluebird checking out one of the houses my husband had cleaned earlier, in preparation for their arrival.
Trying to get through this book I signed on to review this week. I’m probably not feeling the love because I’m just not in the right frame of mind.
That’s an ice cream bar in the background there and I plan on eating it.
Which I did.
It was decadently delicious.
I came inside later on and washed the dishes that were in the sink.
And at 5:30, I started making dinner.
Please try to stay awake.
George at the top of the stairs waiting to be called down to dinner.
He always eats after we do.
And after dinner, he likes to play games.
Tonight’s movie on Netflix: The Young Victoria. Emily Blunt is lovely as Queen Victoria, Rupert Friend made the perfect Prince Albert, and the costumes and set designs were fabulous. Enjoyed the movie, although it was a bit slow. Rupert Friend was the best part. Another movie I loved him in was Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont.
So that’s my day. I wanted it to last longer, as it’s the end of my spring break, which is kind of depressing . . . but maybe it will be good to get back to normal again. This week has just been so sad.
Hope you have a great week, all ~ and, as ever, thanks for stopping by.

Love your captures. And, "Good, George!"
Yes, it may be good to keep your mind occupied!!
It's been a hard week all around, I guess.
I'd have the cocktail, too, or a beer!
ha!
thanks for sharing you and your day....and you know, sometimes simple is simply beautiful......xo
Oh how I love the photo of George on the stairs. How sweet is he to wait there for his meal. Oh, and the umbrella... is it one with a base on the ground or is it through a table? It's VERY pretty, Kate.
Looks like a great day! Thanks for sharing your day with us
A beautiful day, and in pictures too.
Didn't you have snow last week? And now you have umbrellas up...sigh.

It sounds like a lovely day. I think spring is here for sure. I took some photos of robins today too ;) We spent a lot of time outside on these nine acres making the grounds ready for mowing season...aka...picking up sticks and rocks and trimming back trees.
So glad spring is finally show her face.
Thinking of you. (((you)))
I think that sounds (and looks) like a lovely day. I love the tulip shot. The robins finally made it up here, I think they may have brought spring.
I like this kind of a day! It looks like spring has sprung there what with the rototilling, the bluebirds, and ice cream bars:)
It's tough to get on with normal when it's been such a sad time for you. Snapping images is grounding though.. and it connects you to nature. And nature heals.
And I want to know what the cocktail was!
I loved this post! You crack me up...I wasn't falling asleep..lol. It will be good to be back to a routine again.
My favourite kind of post. Not boring at all! x
Ohhhh, I need to till my garden too but the rain has left it kind of boggy. Maybe tomorrow morning.
what a nice day ... xo
never a bad photo of George--he just softens the heart
hope you get some nesting bluebirds!
A beautiful day and beautiful pictures. We had a great sunny day....told my friend that I guess any day that is pretty enough to end in a pain pill means you got too much work done!
I loved going through your day, Kate, and hope your return to school after spring break will go well.
You have a way with photos, my friend. I am coveting your umbrella, what a cool vintage looking pattern!
Your husband looks like a natural out in the garden, glad he got the dang thing to work. Gardening is good for the soul -
Does George actually wait upstairs while you eat? My dogs sit at our feet and beg, bad habit.
Great photos...especially the ones of your dog, George. He's SO cute!
What a perfect day! And how could you know I longed for pussy willows?! BTW, I have the same Dell, but I put a bit of bandaid over the camera cause you nevah know.......
Aloha, Pal

So sweet. Great shots... as always.
And feeding your dog after you is so important. I ♥ my Dane but he always eats after us so he knows he is not the boss dog. Of course he still believes he COULD rule the roost, of he wanted to... until the cat walks in!
:-)

PS For some reason love that stairs shot...

Hi there my friend - beautiful photos as always. Will that chickadee print be available for sale? My office mate (Jane - she won one of your cardinal prints, and is a dear friend of Ellen) covets one. I certainly understand why!
