Random 5 Friday – on Saturday

I am linking to Nancy Claeys at A Rural Journal for her Random 5 on Friday where she invites readers to share five facts about themselves, their pets, kids, whatever they’d like to share.

I’m a little late to the party because it’s already Saturday so for what it’s worth ~

1. We had a big storm come through last night. I love the raindrops it left on the azalea blooms. Springtime makes me catch my breath sometimes with its beauty.

2. I have no idea how old this azalea bush is, but it’s huge. I can feel the history of this property that we caretake here on a hill in Maryland. The house is old and needs a little work, but it feels safe and strong.

3. I  was surprised to realize that this is the 5th spring that my husband and I have lived here.

4. I love movies. Last night I watched The Petrified Forest (1936), a black & white classic featuring Leslie Howard, a  very young Bette Davis, and Humphrey Bogart in his first film appearance.

Howard reportedly insisted that Humphrey Bogart appear in the film as gangster Duke Mantee. It proved to be Bogart's break-out role. Howard and Bogart had previously appeared in the play together on Broadway and became lifelong friends; Bogart and Lauren Bacall later named their daughter "Leslie Howard Bogart" after him. ~Wikipedia

Loved it. Thank you to my sister-in-law, Barb, for suggesting it to me.

5. One of my mother’s favorite trees was the dogwood, and she would have been 91 years old on the 18th. After she passed away in 2006, my sisters and I began writing to each other as group e-mails and it’s this correspondence that often gets me through my worst days. And for that, I am so thankful.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Loved your five.

I like Spring too. I think it's the freshness. The light after the cold and dark. I enjoy waking up to birds singing. The green everywhere .. I live in the woods.

Enjoy your weekend,
JC

If only the house, the azalea and the dogwood tree could talk to tell their stories! Awesome photos! Spring is such a magnificient time of the year with the emergence of the leaves on the tress, the flowers and the melodies of the song birds!!! So thankful that you have your sisters and that you are so close.

I don't think we have dogwood here Kate but I have seen them in flower in the US and I agree they are simply beautiful.

Better late than never, as the saying goes! Dogwood trees always remind me of my mother's family, and Virginia. Gorgeous shots.

Enjoy this beautiful day!

I love old movie too. I have to be in the mood but oh my there is a treasure trove out there....Have you seen Arsenic and Old Lace? Loved it! To me...that was 'acting' back then . Most of todays movies rely on special effects so much they forgot how to act....Old movies i find i really have to pay attention to....really listen to the dialogue to know whats going on....Hugs! deb

I feel that way about spring too, although autumn is really my favorite season of the year. The dogwoods are just delicious looking in our area right now. Wish I had about 20 of them on our property to enjoy. :)

Beautiful. I love this time of year. I don't have many flowering anything around me, unfortunately. I'll have to change that.

Love the idea of group emails between siblings. Trouble is, I only have 1 brother and we don't talk that much. :/

I watched "Memoirs of a Geisha" last night for the about the 5th time and your last photo reminds me of that movie with the cherry blossoms. So beautiful! Spring just doesn't last long enough does it?

Thanks so much for joining up this week Kate. Very much appreciated.

Awesome blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?

I'm planning to start my own website soon but I'm a little lost on everything.

Would you suggest starting with a free platform like Wordpress or go for a paid option?
There are so many choices out there that I'm completely overwhelmed .. Any recommendations? Thank you!

I love dogwoods. Their flowers are so dainty.

May I simply say what a relief to uncover somebody that actually understands what they're discussing online. You actually realize how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people should check this out and understand this side of the story. It's surprising you are not more
popular because you certainly have the gift.

Gorgeous spring photos Kate! That azalea is stunning...all those perfect buds...I don't doubt that my breath would be taken away at the sight of that in full bloom!

I am so glad you have your sisters to cherish and support each other....I miss mine so very much.

Wonderful photos as usual Kate. Very dreamy photo of the dogwood, one of my favorites since visiting the US, and after watching the movie The American President! ;-)

Love the azaleas also, have several in my front yard. Pity I am selling. :-(

Lovely that your sisters all keep in touch,. My sisters and I have a group typing skype running all day every day, since we live so far away from each other it is nice to be able to "chat" during the day, and catch up with each other. My Mum passed away in 2006 also.

Hope you have a wonderful week.

Has it really only been five springs? It seems like so much longer. I know I've been out of pocket for awhile, and I apologize. Lovely to see you again.

You also should make sure that the lender has the best loan terms and conditions, and you may also want to ask
the lender to be forthright about any unmentioned fees.
If a payday loan company has standards that are too
easy to meet, this has an effect of the trustworthiness of that company.
The payday loan lenders almost hope that you can't meet the first payment so that you start accruing interest rates that are extremely high.
